Its beyond me why they aren't standard with FD's. A dropped chain can ruin your race - Andy Schleck is a prime example, although i think he was shifting to the big ring, so a chain catcher wouldn't have made a difference in his case. Still for $25 its a small price to pay.

Awesome, thanks to everyone for posting pics of their chain catcher - I've just ordered mine through PBK. Free shipping + 10% off is a no-brainer !

Might need to pop into my LBS and ask how much they can do a chain catcher for.

I saw a plastic chain catcher on a Shimano DA bike that i test rode but getting the bike converted to a SRAM red build so needa double check.

Re the Rotor chain catcher, it looks like it's not going to be compatible with my 105 which is clamped on to the seat tube?

I see some braze-on adaptors on PBK as well, but I assume that these aren't meant to replace the FD clamp and not sit on the seat tube as well?

I'd like to know for sure before ordering :)

Cheers,
Simon.

I think the Rotor chain catcher should fit on my Ultegra FD, looks to have the same bolt as one of the pics with DA. I looked at my mates' 105 FD today and it won't work for that. Not sure about other adaptors and for SRAM.

Thanks for that - Have bought one as well. However, does it not make you think that the chain slips off as the FD is not tuned properly?

Is that a polar s series cadence sensor punk_rob ? If so how is it working out for you?

I find the s-series is a crappy bike computer and seriously thinking about replacing it with a standard bike computer, but I like all the recording functions ...

Thanks Max, I personally went for the c6 due to the components and was a bit anti the white and blue, but it has grown on me and I now tend to think its the pick of the bunch, excluding the white and red 'pro' that is a beautiful livery. The c7 is silver and is nice to, but the Oppy team is not my taste (Genisys Team Colourway)

Yep the bar tape is really good, its pretty tough too, id love to get white on there but ill stick with the stock set up until a change is needed due to wear.

@familyguy its actually a small! I came from a 56.5 Avanti and thought straight away id go for the 56 Medium in the oppy, but when I threw a leg over it just felt too big. From my experiance the Oppy frames seem to be on the large size. I have toyed with the idea of a larger set back angle seat post to give greater reach from the saddle to the bars but have not deemed it neseccary as yet.

Yeah, the C6 is definitely the best looking 'colourway' My LBS owner just got a special order XXS C6 flat-bar built up. Looks NIIIIICE. I must be the only guy in the country on an XL Oppy!

Personally, I'd try a longer stem first, like a 120 or 130. Too much seat setback and you'll weigh the back too much, and be lifting the front all the time.

Good point familyguy, also the original stem sits the bars rear of the front hub, so some play there would not negativley effect the handling too much.

Ill still run it as is but if i feel i want some more reach ill go for that option.

Great bikes mate, especially like the Dura Ace carbon cranks, pretty rare site.

However, in this photo it appears your left big toe might need a little anti-fungal treatment.
