Wow carbon lugs. Don't know of any other company which uses lugged frames? It's usually Monocoque this and monocoque that

a lot of the companies not making out of taiwan/china use it. look, time, colnago, IF all do.

The Oppy's are essentially the same, except they hide the lug inside the tubes and bond over the top.

I was thinking that but the Oppys are much better value than a lot/all of monoque frames with similar components on them

sort of. tube construction is completely different.

No lugs carbon or otherwise on an OPPY, mitered joints then carbon wrapped is what tube to tube construction is about.

OK, unthinking example. Technically neither lugged or t2t are moncoque is more the point I was trying to make.

Here she is - new rival S2.

I've changed the brakes to SRAM force, had the shop install FSA bars and stem, I've got a SRAM red crank coming in the mail and I was going to swap the shifters to SRAM force - however the 2011 rival looks and feels the same so far.

The glue is still drying in the steerer sleeve - so I'm on strict orders not to ride her till 12pm tomorrow....14 hrs and counting!

They have been the same for so long because its hard to improve on a bike that is already so good! haha

Thank god they brought our a black S2 - having a white bike & being a clean freak does not work well at all....

Stay tuned for new bottom brackets for the S series in 2010.

Just out of interest, what was your motivation to do this? The weight saving is only 7g

My bike has a Rival group and IMO the brakes are bloody fantastic. That said though, I haven't tried Force brakes so I can't really compare

I guess the upgrade isn't an expensive one, but I'm keen to know your thoughts

I'm sure the performance is exactly the same - and the weight, as you said not noticeable. It was more a look thing, I like the look of the Force brakes better than the Rival ones.
I have and S1 with Force so it was a no-cost swap. Plus a get a little enjoyment out of putting a bike on a workstand and pulling it to pieces and putting it back together.

Here's my semi new ride (swapped the SRAM red gruppo off the old bike) - its a 56.5cm Project Black Tarmac SL3 and as you see it (incl pedals) its 7.1kg - it rides very nicely

Not trying to be critical really, but are you sure those cable outers are the right length?

Yeh - I'm leaving them long until i get the steerer cut to perfect size. I've also got a 10mm spacer above the stem just in case...

After a handful of rides I'll fine tune everything.

Here's a couple of happy snaps of the Token chain catcher:

Considering even the most elite pros sometimes drop a chain I don't know why these are not the usual. Maybe the extra 10 grams?
I'd not say this one detracts from the Euroness of the bike.
