I think it is. The comment on the bottom said

Interesting to see a BSO with a decent groupset on it. Maybe its not so bad once all the components have been changed over? :? :?

Yup it is.

Actually, the stock groupset were Tourney which is serviceable but nothing to write home about. I happen to have a set of old 105 retired from my other road bike, so

The frame is actually half decent despite it started its life as a BSO - alloy frame and chromoly fork.

Alchemy Australia were known for their aluminium creations.....not sure what happened to them though ?

This frame is hand made in Denver Colorado by an award winning frame maker. They're a bit similar to Parlee using Enve tube sets & adding on their own rear end.

The ride is well.......fast, too fast for me.

Thanks Jasonc! I had a feeling I was gonna get pulled up on the seat angle, I love the Arione but the standard flat version just doesn't feel right for me unless it's slightly tilted. It's also a bike I like to ride flat out so I keep it more aggressive. Where as the Ultimate has been set up for longer, hillier rides (hence the compact and grooved Arioine VSX saddle).

I originally had my heart set on the black version but in the end I was put off by the 'raw' textured looked of the black carbon fibre, oh and it was sold out by the time I had the money to buy it...

Love em. I have to ask though, how did you get these into Australia? Very desirable, but from what I've heard people have to go overseas or know someone overseas to get it back here.

No worries booge, I had been living in the UK for the last 10 years and moved back to Melbourne only a month ago. I couldn't stand the thought of putting them on shipping boat for 3 months so just brought them with me on the plane, had to fork out a bit for the extra weight but my missus had been given an extra 10kg allowance as she was classed as 'emigrating'. Insane that they aren't available here, amazing bikes and great value, as I'm sure you know!

Yes I'm regularly drooling over their looks, performance and value online. I've never heard a bad thing about them.

My (and others) only criticisms are that they can be a bit slow once you've made your order, they'll give you a date then next thing you know it's been held up by an extra month for whatever reason. Also, they're a little stingy on the grease, they arrive a little 'dry', you have take them apart and re grease the important parts. Apart from that they great!
