Thanks, I really like it now that I have had it. I was skeptical as the person at the bike store just described it to me, but now that it is mine, i love it

Thankyou re the bike.

As for the saddle. Yes I do have long legs in regards to my total hieght. When I bought my first bike I was fitted to an Avanti size 58. Sitting upright it felt natural, but after riding for a short time I developed a pain just between and just below my shoulder blades. I was reaching for the handle bars. When I got fitted at the Specialized (the bikes a 56) store it was mentioned that the seat post was about as high as it could go, and that any higher and if the seat didn't go as far forward then I would have had to have gone with a straight seat post that didn't have that little angle bend back at the top.

Anyway, it's a very comfortable ride and I like my bike. :D

Anyone ever seen how planes stop on an aircraft carrier? I can imagine the track attendants deploying cables to catch .isaac. as he whizzes past.

I was not very fond of BMC at first glance but now i just love them...IMO they look so much better in real life, pictures in general do not do them justice. Very jealous....I want one!

Creaky, the TCR Comp

Posted: Fri Oct 07, 2011 6:11 pm
by Capsyze
This is Creaky, a 2011 Giant TCR Composite 1...

Image

The reason I call my bike Creaky?

It's not the original frame. The first had a nasty creaking noise that was identified by Giant Technical Support as "non structural delamination of the carbon fibre around the seat tube".
Subsequent to the new frame being refitted, it developed a different sounding creak. This time the low torque of the seat clamp led the aero seat post to slip (noticeable during a 90km+ ride when the seat height dropped approx. 5cm). Took the bike back the LBS. While the mechanic scratched his head for a solution I suggested he use FSA carbon assembly paste - the seat hasn't moved since. More to the point, it hasn't made a sound since!

One of the first things I had fitted was a set of FSA K-wing carbon bars, and black cable outters for the internal routing.
I've replaced the standard TCR pew with a Giant Defy spec saddle.
Also added is a Token chain catcher on the front derailleur.

I rode Creaky in the 2011 Kinglake 120km. Anyone that participated knows just how rubbish the weather was.
Needless to say the water and muck that got into the cables (combined with the tight angles of the FSA K-wing internal routing) eventually made shifting almost impossible. So I've had the derailleur cabling replaced by a Gore Ride-On fully sealed cable kit and the shifting is now sweeeeeeet!

Oh, and I picked up some Token C30a wheels to replace the DT Swiss R1900 that came standard.
