got off the bike ... had a look at my max speed on endomondo ... and wanted to ride harder and faster. ...
then today mondayitis hit hard and regretted not riding the bike to work so instead i went home a bit early and rode another 30kms ...
no regrets on the purchase so far

Hi Everybody,

Like many on this forum, I've enjoyed everybody's photos. I've finally organised myself and taken some photos of my bike. Just the normal accessories, no upgrades (yet). I took it up after many years without a bike to add another fitness option to my running program. I dipped my toe in with the Giant CRX4 flat bar, and was able to upgrade a month ago to the 2011 Giant Defy 2. Just 35-40ks at a time up and down the Princes Highway at the moment. Absolutely loving it!

Is there a cure for upgraditis though? It seems that if I'm not reading these forums, I'm online window shopping! Not as pricey as some of the steeds on here, but it's all mine! Here 'tis!

TBH I couldn't say, I love them all.
The disc bike is purely for commuting, is very reliable and performs very well.
The carbon and Ti road bike are very similar in ride quality and great to ride, I tend to use the carbon for hilly terrain and the Ti for events/flatlands.

The wheelsets, well at 85kg I found out first hand they don't appreciate looong descents with frequent braking - but that's carbon clinchers for you. Everything else about them is great. Stiff, fast, decent Asian hubs and a reasonable weight. Good for rolling terrain and flats, but definitely not for serious climbing (unless your <70kg)

antipodean, the Ti's are both XACD custom geom and tube specs.

Say hello to my little friend.... A one-off creation courtesy of Giant's frame replacement warranty....

You see, my lovely 2011 TCR Composite 1 (back on Page 128) is no more, thanks to a small crack appearing in the seat tube just below the top tube.

A replacement frame was sought and I got an upgrade to a 2012 TCR Advance frame onto which the Composite running gear was installed.




I take it out for it's maiden ride tomorrow morning... I can't wait!

Nice bars, love my K-wings (minus the cable routing)

I love the K-wings too... they're awesome on long rides and for climbing.
Agreed, the cable routing is a pain and caused serous friction, especially the tight kink on the outside right and left cables where they enter the bar.

I had new cables installed a week prior to the King Lake 120 and the shifting wasn't too bad.
However, being caught up in the rain the cables were soaked.

Cut to 2 weeks after and shifting was nigh on impossible. The cables had corroded and the derailleurs didn't want to budge.

Solution?

I had a Gore Ride-On fully sealed cable kit installed for both front and back derailleurs on my 2011 TCR Composite 1 and the shifting was perfect. This was prior to the frame being written-off by Giant under warranty.

The K-wings have now been transferred to the warranty replacement frame - Giant Australia upgraded me to a 2012 Giant Advance frame set. This frame uses internal routing with the Giant cable sleeves removed. A couple of replacement ferules were required to mate up to the Giant frame and the whole system is flawless. Big thanks to Justin at my LBS for the brilliant job of the refit!

Just built this from an old '99 Giant OCR frame for my partner. Bit of fun, in a tongue in cheek kinda way. Really nice to ride as well.

I went with Gore Ride-On as well at my last cable change. Def makes them better . I also use the Jagwire brake lines as the first few inches of outer is much more flexible and gets around the bend better. Next stop will be Ultegra Di2

Cheers, really happy with how it came up.

Gruppo is 105 5600 of ebay. Last year's set so saved a few dollars. Didn't need anything flashy though, just good quality and reliable.
