What's the deal with the red spokes on each wheel? I see that they line up with the valve stem, but I'm curious if that's their only purpose? (Not complaining or criticising in any way ... I'm just genuinely curious! )

On the stem - it's comfy at that height. That's all I care about . On the saddle bag. I got caught once with two flats on the one ride, so I want a bag big enough to two tubes, and a couple of tubes take up more space than they seem like they should. I hate carrying stuff in my jersey pockets, so big ol' ugly saddle bag it is. Cheers, Simon.

+1 in defence of the properly sized saddle bag! And for having a Trek - seems they are a rare thing these days.

As a concept, it is just extending the utility of Rule #40...* http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/#40 *Yes, applying the rules to a MTB is ironic...

Its a custom 0-0 stationary training cassette. I've lost my cassette lock ring tool so can't get the cassette off my old race wheels at this stage...its driving me crazy because all I want to do is take the eastons for a spin!
