I know- would look the best but would end up grey anyway- so I went straight to grey- will try white and black (separately) in the future.

Get a gloss white tape and use windex...
Stays white no issues. ;)

Nice build Dan.

Probably the best choice for vintage Carbon. Designed by someone who actually knew how the stuff worked and designed it to last not to be a one season throw away. Still pretty light though. I had a 58cm one that weighed around 1400g for the frame.

What happened to the original fork Dan? It should be a 1" threaded number.

Funny hey - not the original fork, true, however the 94 catalogue and mech spec has the 5500 with a 1" threadless fork and zero degree rise stem - a detail which then disappears from the range for the next 5 or so years.

Mine was a 94. Definitely had a 1" threaded fork with a well used Record groupset.

Catalogue link for those interested - p.15 for the 5500. Standard issue with Chorus group.

Wow this thread is bringing it's A game lately, first a good looking Orbea, now a good looking Trek!

What'll be next, a good looking Hasa?

LBS got a black one traded recently. If I'd had room I'd have not let it reach the second hand racks. Looks good Dan.

Someone I ride with has one of those - but silver coloured and with Tri-bars clipped on to it.

Nice vintage bike. :)

thanks guys. Yep, ride is quite comfortable - next phase is to grab a fork with a bit more steerer and get the bars up a tad.

Another vote of approval! The vintage carbon movement continues to grow

What size is it? It looks smaller than the other bikes you've shown, 57 or 58 cm tt from memory

It's a 58 also, well, 57cm top tube - the 58 is seat tube ctt. Looks smaller in that image than it is, but it's definitely has a shorter standover then my cannondale. That's the reasoning behind a new fork - 16cm drop is a bit much for me o_O

Vintage carbon indeed - it's older than some people on here :)

Very nice indeed Dan. Lovely straight lines :P Any thought about making the bottle cage black to tie in with the bars/seat/brakes?

So youre trusting 19 year old carbon now?

I would trust the OCLV stuff over that from Giant, Vitus, et al.

Yep. Won't be drilling holes in it, though.
