Don't often get punctures, have even gone a year without a puncture.

But I just got my third for the year.

First one was a big, really big, screw through a tyre.

Next one on the way to the "helmet optional" ride a couple of weeks ago, no idea what caused it.

Today, went to ride to work and had a flat. Just took the other bike. Got home and found that this latest puncture was caused by a hole in the rim tape caused by the first puncture.

My tyres are fairly worn so I replaced the rim tape, tube and tyre this evening. But the other 3 tyres - the front on that bike and both on the other bike, will all need replacing in the next few months.

Another one yesty, in pouring rain. 8 for the year fwiw. The Maxxis Refuse went back on last night.

As per rules, that's No. 1. Small glass shard through the top.

FWIW, I had one caused about three weeks ago by a piece of glass type stuff the use in the green treatment of bicyce lanes. Worked it's way in through a small slash!

Number 3 for me this morning. I must have got it last night as it was flat this morning.

Lucky I have a few spare bikes :D

Pinch flatted the front last night when I crashed into a pothole that I didn't see. I was fairly quickly approaching a pedestrian (zebra) crossing and there were pedestrians faffing around deciding whether or not to cross.

Unfortunately, I watched them and not the road right in front of me and didn't see the pothole.

Number three last week. Was a weird slow one that looked like the tube had been scuffed. Inspected the rear tyre and found one slightly rough spot from a previous so spat the dummy and binned it as I've had a few slow leaks recently and I suspect it was the culprit. Amazing how much better a new SMP corners rather than an old squared off one with about 5K on it!

On holidays and in a group ride, just pulled in to the meet up point after coming down Mt cootha and had a thorn in the front tyre... and then 2 days later I was about to ride to Straddie and the back tubeless tyre had a small hole... lucky there was room in the car for me but no room for the bike so that is 5 and 6
has been others but havent kept track

#2 - 23/2 - front SMP 28mm - radial wire on M2

#3 - 5/3 - rear Durano DD 25mm - radial wire on M2

#4 - 22/3 - rear SMP 28mm on M2 - this was right after the very wet period we had in March. on this evening, i was 1 of 3 riders with punctures within a 2km stretch on the M2, near Beecroft tunnel.

#5 - 16/4 - front 28mm Conti Gp4S - gravel ride epic fail. 2kms into Quarry trail and i get a pinch flat. gave up. i'd just passed by a "Rifle Range. No tresspassing" gate and knew they would be operational in under 2 hrs. If you've been to Quarry trail, then you know that the first few kays are all downhill. so i was pushing my bike uphill ... on gravel .. with cleats ..

average kms between puncture = 705km

Broke a spoke on the commuter so have been using the carbon tubeless road wheels which had been collecting dust... last Thursday's commute to work the front went down, pulled out the spare tube and the valve was to small... lucky it was a slow leak and managed to get to work after pumping it up. bike shop is only 150mtr from work so number 7 fixed and off I went.

Then this morning crossing a steel cattle grid at the bottom of my first climb to work and down the back tyre went... not a big hole but tyre went flat quick. Can only presume that the goo didnt work as the roads were slightly wet... will look into it more when I get home but fortunately I grabbed a 60mm valved tube this morning... which just fitted the 50mm rim so that was number 8

Continuing on from above... got another slow leak this morning... unsure if there is something in the tyre but I have been using the bike for over 2 weeks since I changed the front tube so would have thought I would have had issues earlier if thats the case....A lot of debris on the road as we have had strong winds and rain the last few days... at least I had a valve extender in case the tube valve was to short again... which it was... just didnt check if the valve could be removed which it cant so had to repump the tyre 2 more times to get to work... will do the same going home and look at changing tyres this weekend ... that could be 9

Got my first the other day, on the TT bike of all things. Not even going to bother recording like I used to. Somewhere around 7000kms since the last flat. :)

Not happy Jan

About to leave home for shop ride and rear is flat...might have been lucky I didnt extend yesterdays commute, so quickly grabbed the road bike...checked tyres, swapped lights and shoes and missed the shop ride... ended up catching them ... 100mts on and rear goes down... another guy punctured as well... wet roads at the moment which seems to bring on the punctures. that will be 10 and 11 after weekends investigations

Hope you had your fingers and toes crossed after that one Foo.

Mysterious rear flat this morning...was 40 k into a Figure 8 ride (on a map) and I was only about 2klm from home and I was sorely tempted to just go home...it was still only 6am and only just getting light. Glad I didn't though as some speedy peoples rolled past so the next 85klm's were a blast!

I bought a pack of 100 x 15mm tube patches on line early in 2015, and I used the last one a fortnight ago. This might sound like one puncture per week but it is actually not that bad - I have often (too often) had to redo a puncture because it didn't take the first time! This may have wasted close to half (I haven't been counting) of the 100 patches. I have been experiencing fewer punctures lately, and I hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying this. I ride the M5 shoulder rather a lot and, although it is no less disgraceful than it was last year or the year before, I am getting better at spotting the debris before I ride over it. I have also learned to run with higher tyre pressures- I would rather have a harsher ride than a pinch flat!

On the way home last night, past a building site and down went the back tyre.... then I couldnt break the bead to get the tyre off... finally managed to change the tube and then noticed the pump was missing the connector... packed my bag for the 3km walk home and went to put the wheel back on and noticed I had loosened the skewer too much and lost the nut and spring....found the nut...spring was gone... then spotted the connector in the grass but by this time a group of youngins was heading my way trying to pick fights with everyone else (was in the wrong part of town) so quickly put some air in the tyre and headed directly home ... think I am over punctures
12 now

Pinch flatted on a golf ball sized rock in the painted cycle lane last night in light rain.
I think it was my first for the year, but I have only done 5k so far. Lost my mojo in the shizen Vic weather.

Another one on the rear this am. Running late so just threw a new tyre and tube on. I'll have a look tomorrow but the tyre was pretty worn. Rime tape is new.

My good run has come to an end, pinch flat after hitting a plastic bottle when going through an underpass. Think the tyre is okay, just the tube is gone.
