Not sure if I could do 100klm on my Mtn bike!

After 32 (but who is counting eh?) days off the bike I rejoined the cycling world on Friday with a metric followed by another on Sunday. The Sunday ride was meant to be an Imperial but I wilted as I was close to home at the 135k mark. Sore is an understatement!

Two months to get fit again for Le Tape and then the Buderim9.

Metrics = 21. Imperials = 8.

So today saw me roll over 15 metrics for the year.
Two imperials up with the ATB 210 last weekend.
Or do we count the ATB as a double metric ? :)

I count them as they go to the next level ... 120km last weekend, should have been another this weekend but stepson had all the garage openers so couldnt get the bike out...was cold and wet so happy to go back to bed

15 So far 10x metrics...4x Imperials....1x double metric

Had a bikepacking event last weekend, decided riding at night and not seeing the views was a bit pointless so outside first day my km were down on what i planned.
Day 1 was 258km and 4281m, a lot of single tracks in that day https://www.strava.com/activities/1269579076
Day 2 was 242 km and 3664m, mostly gravel roads https://www.strava.com/activities/1270053364
Day 3 was 154km and 2559m, was a cruisey day https://www.strava.com/activities/1271433792

Nice one chriso!!!

I cracked the metric century for the first time ever today, racking up 128km by the time I got home. Previous best distance was about 85km.
Punching into a headwind all the way home was not much fun!

I also ticked over 2000km for the year, which I know is paltry to many here, but it feels good to do things I didn't think I was capable of.

Based on how I'm feeling now, an imperial century wouldn't be impossible, but I won't be rushing to try and do it just yet :)

Thanks Mububban, well done on your first 100 :)
Its nice when you finish up while you still feel you could keep going.

My legs could have kept going after 200km last week, it was more my body was over 8.5 hours of blazing sun, sweat and sunscreen. Was starting to get very uncomfortable on the bike.

It was my 5th 100k for the year and first ever imperial

October was my first metric for the year. 240 hilly kms yesterday. Slow but not too uncomfortable. Got absolutely filthy though with 30-40km of wet gravel :-)

In March this year after only riding for 12 months I notched up my first century (metric) with the second coming in August .. year to date

Imperial 1
Metric 14
Double (200km) 1

Its funny how your first is such a mountain to climb then after that they just become a normal training ride

Yep, one of my goals when I started cycling was to be able to ride 100 kms without really thinking about it.
I like to think I have achieved that now. Headed off on Saturday without a real plan and whacked another metric in, because I could :D

In preparation for next year, the 2018 - Imperial 160km & Metric 100km Centuries Discussion Thread has already been setup.

There may be a possibility of incentivising in next year (i.e. prizes) and this is in discussion.

Well done everyone on the big rides. I was a none-contender in 2017 so 2018 is my year to get some distance cycling under my belt. However, isn't 1km on the MTB worth 2km on the road?

Had to crank out some klm to ensure I reached my target of 12k ytd so smashed out 3x metrics and an imperial in the 4 days before Christmas. Whilst working...

Year Tally:
30 metrics
10 Imperials
3 Double metrics.

My tally for 2017:
19 metrics
1 Imperial
1 double metric

Happy with that as only started seriously cycling August last year as a 59 year old (then) and only got my first metric done late January this year.
I''ll get some more imperials happening in 2018.
