You are having a very special year Mugglechops .... well done. I passed my 2017 goal this morning, a month slower than last year but still happy with my year.Mugglechops wrote:I managed another 1000km month thanks to a little 5 day bikepacking trip that added 524kms in 5 days. And 7000 or so metres of climbing.

I ticked over 6K for the year so I guess I'm allowed in here now. As always for me the battle is consistency. I get going ok and then a few things happen and next thing you know I haven't ridden 3 weeks straight, or 3 months straight in the case of this year. Regardless, this will be my biggest year cycling yet in 5 years of riding, so I'll take it.
One thing that pulled me back to cycling has been a move further from work requiring a 30km/day commute, which after 7 weeks I can say has been a great thing and I'm keen to continue it next year. Often I actually find myself up and out *early* for work now, and taking the long way for a 30-35 km ride in. I'm not sure if that will continue but I'll enjoy it while it does. It is a nice feeling getting home from a regular day at work with 55 km in the legs, but whether that's sustainable or actually useful (for building fitness) remains to be seen.
Next year seems a long way away, and history has proven I shouldn't get too ahead of myself, but with regular commuting, weekend adventures and the odd race/training ride hopefully 6k should be easy enough and 10 or more might even be on the cards. I just need to avoid the 3-6 month mid yearly slump...

Commuting by bike is not possible for me, so all recreational riding.
Very happy with myself with just under 18 months since seriously taking up cycling as an old man

Only 60km to go for me. But too much Christmas cheer this weekend meant no time on the bike.
A 70k round trip to work one day this week should see be done, then heading up to Bright over Christmas to climb some mountains

Only 5K for me due to a late back injury, but I will be trying for 6K next year.
The last couple of years I have ridden Xmas Day & NY day, quite delightful without traffic.
Enjoy Xmas & Stay safe.

2018 - 6,000km, 10,000km and 18,000km Clubs
As these are stickies and take a bit of space in the General Cycling Discussion forum sections, the compact format makes sense and you can simply define your goal for 2018 in that thread. There might be prizes / incentives as well!
Cheers

Argh, sorry. At in-laws and laptop has been closed when the job is scheduled. I’ll do a manual run in a bit and find somewhere else to stash it.Orion wrote:Has anyone else's counter stopped updating? Mine has been stuck at 5865km for a few days even though I've been uploading rides to Strava. Strava says I've ridden 5990km as of today.

Well, I made it! Ticked over 6000km this morning on a short ride. Now sitting at 6017km.
I'm tantalisingly close to 100km of climbing for the year with only 1300m to go so that's the next goal. Should be pretty easy since I live on a mountain and there ain't much flat ground around here.
