Did the double last year and I was really surprised how much the Montville climb took out of me for the Grand Fondo... Good fun but.

Hi Guys,
One of our group riders is an ambassador for the event, so we will be riding Sunday.
She suggested the Gran Fondo was going to be a medium 100km .
I will find out more & post here.
Distance Goal 4000km

Thanks Mustang .... I would appreciate what first hand info you can provide. I hope to make my decision before 3 Sept to get the t-shirt :)

Can't say I've put a lot of thought into it, but I found out last night one of the benefits of a sealed bearing bottom bracket.

That's pebbles of clay rattling around in there

Really not sure how that much got in......

When you get that fixed you will "FLY"
I just spent around $100 on ceramic bearings for front wheels, jockey wheels, bottom bracket.
Significant improvement on down hill coasting with larger riders, I now can keep up.
Hav'nt seen you on VV forum? guess the weather is too cold in your area for shed work.
Cheers

Funnily enough I've just come back to this forum after catching up with Koala's Wayfarer
The lack of finances that inspired my $0 29er has squashed the bigger projects more so than the weather, but we've finally caught up and SWMBO has been head hunted just recently so things should start picking up again soon. The whole PhotoBucket debacle hasn't helped, there's a significant number of hours replacing all the images for both of the vans, and unfortunately the ~original shortcut that works on here doesn't work over there.

Struggling to stay ahead of target at the moment. Few weeks off the bike due to travel and now back to poor Melbourne winter has created a loss of mojo :(
If I do drop behind, should be able to make it back up once weather is better and start doing more regular commutes to work.

I completed my second century ride on Saturday with 108kms in a bit over 4 hours. That's my longest distance to date. I was feeling okay until I hit the climb back up the mountain. I already had 100kms down by that stage so it was a sloooow ascent.
Then I fronted up for another 20kms MTB ride on Sunday.

Thanks Mustang
A couple of my regular group have entered both the hill climb and the GF. I am not travelling too well this year so have decided to give it a miss.
Cheers

That was quick, great effort.

Managed to dodge the poor weather last week and this week to put 180k last week and did my 70k commute today so should hopefully also manage a 200km week this week. Should be back on top of it after that :)

In other news, todays ride ticked over 7000km on my 'new' road bike. Over 12000km now since starting riding 2 years ago :) More than my wifes car has done in the same time lol.

1000km in one page! Well done! :)

I happened to have a bike with me while we were in Adelaide over the weekend.

Happy at the moment. School holidays always helps. If it weren't for the magpies around, this time of year would be sublime.

Ticked another 60kms this morning, and managed more 600kms during September.
