Thanks for your reply.

This is likely what I'll be doing. I don't even mind nominating a value, if the insurance company wants to see all my receipts.

A week or so ago I saw Wiggle were offering a discount on their Essential Cover so I thought I'd have a look at their Comprehensive Cover, something I'd never bothered with since it was introduced because I was already covered  It's more expensive than my total Cyclecover policy to ensure just my bike with Wiggle. And a quick Ctrl F of the PDS didn't find the excess amount. No thanks.

I might be getting away from the original intention of this topic but does anyone have a recommendation for third party insurance if my new insurance provider doesn't cover it on bike?

I know a Cycling Australia membership or state association (NSW for me) will provide third party coverage but I would prefer the insight of others with more experience in the matter.

edit: I received my cyclecover policy renewal last week.

I added my bike to my AAMI contents insurance, it covers the bike and $20m public liability including while riding (except in official races). So if I run into a Rolls Royce and dent it or cause someone an injury, they cover the damage I do.

In silent protest I also didn't renew with CycleCover this year. In all my years of having various insurance products, I've never made a claim. Maybe CycleCover should've simply raised the premiums on those that make gratuitous claims (e.g. the I left my bike on the roof of my car and drove into a garage to get an upgrade, flogs), and/or those with gold/race licence, rather than punish everyone...

I'll probably have another look for other reasonable insurance options over the holiday break though. Problem is most insurance policies don't sufficiently cover expensive bicycles that are involved whilst in use for non race crashes, whether that be commuting or involved in an accident in a grand fondo style event etc.

Has anyone had experience claiming through RAC? I only noticed RAC had bicycle insurance cover when going through my car insurance online and then found this thread. I'm currently paying 1k or so a year for cyclecover

I suggest starting a new thread as your query on claiming from RAC is is different topic to the cist of Cyclecover Gold insurance premiums.
