2018 - 6,000km, 10,000km and 18,000km Clubs
Postby AUbicycles » Fri Dec 22, 2017 10:34 pm
Nominate your target for 2018 and share your progress. I will be talking to brands about some incentives (think Strava Challenges) though you absolutely have to already have a target nominated and be tracking your rides.
If you have not already joined the Strava group for the Australian Cycling Forums - join it now.
I look forward to see the progress and some nice ride photos for 2018.
Happy Pedaling

Will see how we go with trying for 10000 in 2018. It may be a bridge too far as I don't commute, but a man's got to have a target

I will set it at 7,700 km in 2018 using my normal standard i.e. 100 times age in years. Looking at concentrating a little more on climbing this year as I have targeted the Noosa Classic (120km and 1400m elevation) in August as a principal goal for the year.

Yeah, I'll go 15k. Only need 500km to get that this year, but won't bother as my back is playing up a little bit.
I'm not interested in strava and I don't mind if I get 15k or not.

I think the threads have different purposes for different riders at various stages of riding so I would hate to see a 6k member being discouraged by all of the kilometre crunchers in the 10k and 18k.
Anyways, although I passed 12k this year I am going to do more with less next year. 10k (-2k from 2017 goal) for me with 125k+vert (achieved 110k in 2017 but goal was 120k)

I understand where you're coming from, but a great number of us in the 6k club either started with a 8k target or upgraded part way thru the year, (not me, I started with 6 and ended at 7). You do have a point with the different stages of riding though.TheWall wrote:I kinda liked the way the 6k and 10k were seperate threads here. I started out on the 6k a couple of years ago but would look at the 10k with amazement. I then decided to jump in the deep end last year and go for it.

The progress bar is very kindly hosted by the user kb so as long as you contact him to let him know what distance you are aiming for then it will remain on your sig.Cardy George wrote:

I'm in Strava, Bikejournal and Endomondo but all manual uploads as I just have an old fashioned Speedo. I reckon I'll do a similar amount this year as this is likely my limit.

On my the different distances, it is bice to have other goals like 8k, 12k and 15k as own goals and each persons goal us as worthy as any others so I feel the combined is good and we can check in later this year if there is a higher benefit from split threads.

Hopefully next year I'll get some more weekend kms in and bring me up to 13k. That's the plan.
Cheers,

Lower mileage, higher intensity for 2018.
Maybe some racing.
If kb is around I'd like to know how to add the bar please.
