2018 - 6,000km, 10,000km and 18,000km Clubs

Postby AUbicycles » Fri Dec 22, 2017 10:34 pm

In 2018 the 6K, 10K and 18K clubs are combined and you can nominate your goal and track and share your progress. With the popularity of indoor training and Zwift, the total distance can be tallied.

Nominate your target for 2018 and share your progress. I will be talking to brands about some incentives (think Strava Challenges) though you absolutely have to already have a target nominated and be tracking your rides.

If you have not already joined the Strava group for the Australian Cycling Forums - join it now.

I look forward to see the progress and some nice ride photos for 2018.

Happy Pedaling

So, no 15k???? I have rolled 15-16 for the past few years, so will keep mine at that. Best of luck all.

I rode 10k in 2016 but was 30% short this year. Will aim for 10k again

Aimed for 6000 this year, but will make 8500 by year end.
Will see how we go with trying for 10000 in 2018. It may be a bridge too far as I don't commute, but a man's got to have a target :)

I aimed for 7,600 this year and will likely finish at 8,300 a bit down on 2016 but happy with that.

I will set it at 7,700 km in 2018 using my normal standard i.e. 100 times age in years. Looking at concentrating a little more on climbing this year as I have targeted the Noosa Classic (120km and 1400m elevation) in August as a principal goal for the year.

Yeah, I'll go 15k. Only need 500km to get that this year, but won't bother as my back is playing up a little bit.

I'm not interested in strava and I don't mind if I get 15k or not.

Hmmm, tough decision as I’m focusing a lot more of the quality of km’s next year. I reckon 12k should be achievable.

I kinda liked the way the 6k and 10k were seperate threads here. I started out on the 6k a couple of years ago but would look at the 10k with amazement. I then decided to jump in the deep end last year and go for it.

I think the threads have different purposes for different riders at various stages of riding so I would hate to see a 6k member being discouraged by all of the kilometre crunchers in the 10k and 18k.

Anyways, although I passed 12k this year I am going to do more with less next year. 10k (-2k from 2017 goal) for me with 125k+vert (achieved 110k in 2017 but goal was 120k)

I understand where you're coming from, but a great number of us in the 6k club either started with a 8k target or upgraded part way thru the year, (not me, I started with 6 and ended at 7). You do have a point with the different stages of riding though.

I'm stretching for 8k this time around, fewer extra curricular activities and maybe a few extra commuting ks should add up by the end of the year.

Do we still get the progress bar?

The progress bar is very kindly hosted by the user kb so as long as you contact him to let him know what distance you are aiming for then it will remain on your sig.

I will have a crack at 6k for 2018, starting to enjoy riding again (even though around 40km is my limit before pain hits me)

I went for 10k in 2017 and almost made 11.5 so I'll aim for 10.5k this year.
I'm in Strava, Bikejournal and Endomondo but all manual uploads as I just have an old fashioned Speedo. I reckon I'll do a similar amount this year as this is likely my limit.

Anyone with a Strava or bike journal account - as long as I know you want one. If you already have one it will roll over.

Thanks kb for keeping this going.

On my the different distances, it is bice to have other goals like 8k, 12k and 15k as own goals and each persons goal us as worthy as any others so I feel the combined is good and we can check in later this year if there is a higher benefit from split threads.

This year I was confident of 12k and set a stretch target of 13k. I even managed to get some days without commuting towards the end of the year, and came up with 12k. (Sig bar to update tomorrow I think).

Hopefully next year I'll get some more weekend kms in and bring me up to 13k. That's the plan.

Cheers,

Cameron

I'm in for 10K.
Lower mileage, higher intensity for 2018.
Maybe some racing.
If kb is around I'd like to know how to add the bar please.

15 k again for me this year. Not sure if I'll have as much spare time as 2017.
