After much consternation, I switched back from my DHB shoes (that I got a couple of months ago) to my old Diadoras (and their soles that have been superglued back together!) - and its been like magic. I just couldn't get the cleats back far enough on the DHBs (which were great shoes otherwise), and the knee felt 100% more stable and rock-solid back in my old shoes.
Feeling great getting back into it with a much better knee, so aiming for a 3000km 2nd half of the year. Now biggest issue is finding a replacement shoe as I know these Diadoras won't last. Just ordered a pair of Shimano RC7's, mainly based on the huge cleat position range they have, so fingers crossed they work out...

I know that feeling, I wear S-Works shoes and have orthotics for them custom made. I hope they never change the basic design of them - those shoes are perfect. Hopefully you'll get no troubles further.Abby wrote:I know these Diadoras won't last. Before this, I have always thought people were being a bit overly-sensitive about problems swapping between shoes. Feel a bit silly now! Wish my Diadora model was still in production, but these shoes are 5+ years old almost (I have very much gotten my money's worth!)...g-boaf wrote:Almost 8500km, 65,471m+.

It grumbled it's way thru a shift about 100m before I felt something brush my leg. Seems the securing bolt fell out. Explained the less than stellar shifting from the last week or so.
And as Murphy would have it I didn't have any Allen keys with me to raid a bottle cage bolt so I MacGuyvered it back together to get back to the car. Had a strategically placed stick holding it up from underneath and a rubber band from my Garmin mount (not pictured) holding it in at the top for the slow(er) ride back.

Have fun over there. I'll be back from the Alps by the time you are over there.
I haven't ridden in France before. But if they are as nice as the Italians are around riders, I'll probably be sad to come back home.

They are as nice, or at least that's my experience. I did 1.5 weeks cycling in France last year, and 1 week the year before, and never any problems with motorists.g-boaf wrote:Cyclophiliac wrote:I've done about 7,820km so far this year, with 90,300m climbed (I have a moderately hilly commute). I'm doing the same rides as previous years. My climbing percentage is lower than when I had my edge 510 (I now have a 1000). I cbf'd going through on every ride. My climbing percentage is around 1.2% at the moment where it was close to 1.5% with the edge 510TheWall wrote:Cracked 8k this evening with 74klm of up. Best ratio I have ever had with some hilly rides planned. Last week I corrected the elevation on every ride this year and picked up a bit over 2klm of up. Damn Garmin... Ha ha

Because they all use changes in barometric pressure. So sensor placement changes and device design can change what is and isn't detectedCyclophiliac wrote:Why is it that every Garmin Edge model gives different ascent results? Previously, I've used the 705, 800 and the 820, and they're all different in their ascent totals.
