I actually crossed the finish line at 99.5km so I rode one lap of the carpark to crack the 100km

Anything over 90 km gets converted by doing a lap of my streetsMububban wrote:I actually crossed the finish line at 99.5km so I rode one lap of the carpark to crack the 100km

Plan was big volume, low intensity.
First half went to plan, ride to local bike shop for late morning 1 hour easy coffee ride, took the longer way home for 75km.
Had lunch, did a couple of chores then head out for local cycling junior training, running a few minutes late, punched into a headwind for an hour to get there. Expecting like usual to help with the younger kids, rolling turns down the PSP at 20-25kph. Ended up doing hill sprints with older kids I will be racing in C grade later this year. Finished up playing the rabbit around a 4km crit/kermese course a few times. Before heading home, first 10km at pace, next 25km solo for 90km and 165km for day/ride.

Legs were fantastic to the 99km mark, then they fell off a cliff - last 4km were a slow spin while staring at the handlebars. All uphill too which added some salt to the wounds!
Gives me something to think about before the Ride the Range in Toowoomba that's 2 weeks away. 112km here, with last 10-15km all up hill. Need to remember to ride strategically...

only 6 imperial and 5 metric centuries so far.
Last year I had 70 imperials and recently this year reached 1000 metric 100+k distances since 22/12/07 (or 382 rides of 100 miles or more)
Currently I have:
distance # of rides (24 hr period or less)
100 to 160.8k 643
160.9 to 200k 108
200 to 299.9k 180
300 to 399.9k 68
400 to 599.9k 23
600 to 671k 3
Total 1025

A short 41km with the morning group due to family commitments, then while the kids were with grandparents I did another 62km in the hills, so 103km in the day, but there was a 3 hour gap in between. 1600m of elevation gain all up.

Yes. I've done that too, laps of the local cycleway to make a ride over 100km. Guilty as charged.ldrcycles wrote:95kms and toast, but forced myself to crawl around a little bit to get 100.1

180km/2000m+ today, broad loop to Warragamba Dam from Camden, then down south to Old Razorback Mountain (it's not too much of a mountain, but still fun) and then down to Picton where my Garmin unceremoniously died. It's been a while since I've been down to Picton on the bike, so rather than chance getting lost - I took the train back. $2.40 I think it was, cheap as anything and I got back surprisingly quickly.
A nice day out. And 100km yesterday.

Was by far the toughest ride I have ever done! Roads were coarse & dead, so was alerady the hardest century ride I'd done before turning the corner at the base of teh Range and seeing 'The Wall' in front of me. Next 5km of climbing took me almost an hour - just brutal. Passed dozens of people walking in their cleats. I had to stop 3 times briefly to stretch my back out and pour water over my head.
That said - was a stunningly beautiful course. Beautiful farmland, all sorts of crops and animals. Organisation was possibly the best I've seen - lots of course markings and marshalls. And the cake stalls at each rest stop were fantastic - a piece of banana bread is a nice change from a gel...
Highly recommend this event...

That is also one of my favourite rides having ridden it twice but the first year it was raining and was a balancing act being able to put enough power down for the final climb without wheel spinning and having enough power to get up the hill... tyres that dont grip in the wet didnt helpAbby wrote:Ride the Range 112km in Toowoomba yesterday. Was 117km all up as I rode to the start from my hotel.
