Remember that one well. Brisbane Bitter were well-know for cutting edge ads.

Reminds me of the Amco Peaches ad.

If you raise your eyes a bit you may notice the head wear, difficult but with training it is possible.

I saw the title of the thread and clicked on it because I thought it was a commercial for

Nope - beer advertising has not changed much here in Queensland.

Better not take any of this home (unless you are certain of your wife's sense of humour).

Victoria's attempt at humour didn't go down too well.

I was going to add that no one would’ve seen racing bikes with mudguards and suicide brake levers. I did have to watch it twice to check.

Something is stirring in the dusty recesses of my mind. Does anyone remember a cheap wine being marketed in the seventies called Renepogel?

Also from the sixties / seventies, there was a pub in a village near Dorchester, England called "The Labour In Vain", with an accompanying sign showing a woman trying to scrub a black child white. It would be just too delicious if the village was Piddlehinton or Tolpiddle (home of the martyrs and long since sanitized to Tolpuddle), but, in truth, I don't remember.

I can't find anything on the net about it, but the link is to a similarly named pub in Staffordshire, and I am as certain as I can be, given the gulf of time, that it is exactly the same sign.

It's nice to read a mention in these columns of the immortal Benny Hill, even if it comes as part of a message telling us to lift our game.

Alfred Hawthorne Hill died of a coronary thrombosis in 1992 (does that make you feel old?), but, if it is medically possible to die of a broken heart, then that was surely his fate. He had recently been forced from our television screens and into early retirement by a savage and sustained attack from a group of "alternative" comedians, led by the execrable Ben Elton. Benny had hit the trifecta of political incorrectness: he was racist, sexist, and homophobic. I personally doubt if he was any of these things, but what would I know? I was just a fan.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32ZQrpbBpsE

He was also something that his detractors were unable to grasp, much less imitate. He was funny - side-splittingly funny, belly-laugh funny, roll around on the floor funny!
