Best shop in Sydney for cycle clothing?

Postby Rockford » Thu Oct 15, 2009 12:16 am

Bibs, nicks, shirts,

Who would it be? where you can try stuff on, have change rooms, decent range. Half decent prices and is not Anaconda.

Most I go to have a small rack of stuff in about 2 sizes.

I know I can buy overseas but I want to buy some locally so I can try it on, so am willing to pay a premium for the privilege.

I wouldnt bother attempting to get their "specials" - as they're "not on the floor" and take someone about an hour to find them upstairs...

Havent actually heard anything as yet. Last time I entered (2007) it was on the thu-sun of the week before the ride, and only notified via email on the sunday before that. Thats still a week away. Not sure if its still on or not. I'm still wearing most of the $400 worth of gear I bought in '07. About 50% of retail pricings.

The warehouse is in Alexandria.

Ta, I've been to Cell, didn't like most of it.

I might go and have a look at CSC or Woolys.

+1 on the Netti sale, if it still happens. Spent way too much money there last year.

Other options: Blackmans at Parramatta - on corner of Victoria Rd and Church St - fit your description. You can also check out the Bike Barn about 100 m further down the road (but I can't remember if they had a fitting room, Blackmans did). Cycleworld at Burwood also has a good range, but their prices usually pack a punch.

All those three pack a punch. Cycleworld, I agree, is the worst in pricing especially if your a drop by shopper.

Get on the Assos shop mailing list and buy when they have their sales and "trade in" offers.
Granted they will still be more expensive than other stuff but if you look after them (cold wash, dry in shade etc etc) they will give an excellent return on your initial investment, outlasting just about anything else by a long way!

And they really are great to ride in.

Kathmandu has opened a clearance store in Sydney in the Town Hall arcade.

Lots of cycling gear, went there today and picked up a few jerseys/tops (all around $15 each - cheaper than Aldi!)

Is it still there? These places open and close in no time. I may be in the city at the weekend and will drop in if it still exists!
