Very social ride with lots of stopping and chatting but was good to show some new riders the track.
Me and Spiz went for a ride up to the lookout afterwards, mucho funno was had on the way back down. Stupid car though got in the way of my high speed run, still 64.8km/h on the mtb is a good speed, lucky the disc brakes were working well

All standing still or almost standing still (don't try to hold on to a little tree instead of unclipping )
Great fun though

Glorious morning for riding but turned very hot at about 10.30 or so.
Not much to report apart from the cramps i got in my right calf on about lap 6, which meant the last 3 laps where in "cramp prevention mode" which is basically trying to limit as much pressure as possible on the right leg, particularly difficult when trying to climb technical sections or short sharp pinches. Managed to get to the end though.
Ended up with 9 laps, had atleast 10 in me if not for the cramping, but was still a good ride and good to get on the mtb again. I really need to fix the cramping issue as i felt good and had alot more left in me. Hard to try stuff though as i only get the cramping after a few hrs on the mtb, i hardly ever ride this distance apart from races. And i dont cramp at all on the road bike, even on all day epics.
Finished 56th out of 107 riders. So i guess i am an "average" rider . Next race is on the 6th February, another 4hr.

Average speed: 14.1Km/h

was very wet and very muddy, bike needs some TLC and some new brakes pads and chain atleast.
Was a fun event, was like being a little kids again playing in the mud
Had to stop twice during the race to hose down the bike as it was chock full with mud, gears wouldnt change, then would change by itself, the mud was taking its toll. Track was ordinary, 1/2 was fireroad, 1/4 was grassy paddock and 1/4 was fun singletrack. was getting really chopped up with the rain also. Feel sorry for the guys still out there doing the 24hr. The 4hr was just enough.
The garmin played up in the first 3 laps and didnt show the elevation properly, up the long fireroad climb which was 16% at some points it showed me as going downhill . but it cam good on the 4th lap i think. So total ascent should be approx 1200m.
No idea what position i came but did 7 laps for 63km. Should put me in the middle somewhere.

each lap we rode alongside the river and past a boat ramp, it was very tempting to just ride into it to get all the mud off.
Luckily i knew some people staying in a cabin so had a ncie shower afterwards.

We ended up finishing 19th out of 104 teams in our category with 22 laps (approx 420km)
Nothing really to report, we had no real issues, track was fast and fun to ride both day and night.
Will be back next year for sure.

Turn right onto Forest Ridge Rd then turn left about 50m up the rd onto the old section of the hwy. You can't miss it. There will be cars and quickshades everywhere.
Google map
Will be great if you can make it

Me and Spiz teamed up after Bandito Ditched us
Early start as Spiz picked me up at 5.30am and we made our way to Lithgow. Arrived to Lidsdale track and found Rainer who had found us a super spot to transition from (on the first coner a few hundred meteres down from the official transition)
Rainer was in a team of 2 with his buddy Mike. Bandito was gpoing Solo.
Spiz voluntered to do the first lap, me not liking the first lap did not complain
Spiz got us off to a good startwith a flying lap. I then took over for my first lap, all good and back quickly. While Spiz went out on his 2nd lap i checked my bike over as it felt funny in the last km or so fo my first lap. Found that the rear shock has lsot all pressure. I pumped it to 200psi and locked it out hoping it would las me the day. Spiz came back and out i went, got about 1km in and my worst fears became real when the rear shock again lost all presure and was fully compressed and would not rebound. I didnt want to turn back so kept going on slower than i would have liked and stood up to take pressure off the rear when possible. The bike was sagging at the rear, pedals hitting the ground all the time and generally was hard to ride, eventually got back and handed over to Spiz. I took off to the onsite mechanic (lifecycles) to see if they could do anything, they pulled it apart and regreased all the seals and put it back together with a warning that it may last 5 mins, 5 hrs or 5yrs. I was hoping for alteast the rest of the day and then could get it serviced properly. I went back to our base camp and Spiz had not been through yet, so got ready quickly and waited, SPiz soon arrived and off i went, the rest of the day went like clockwork with me and SPiz swapping off lap after lap, happy to say that the shock held together and did not fail again (thanks Blake at lifecycles for the quick fix). We ended up with 14 laps (7 laps each) and a total of 140km (each lap was officially 10km). Not sure where that puts us as me and spiz were to lazy to check results during the day . Hopefully in the top half though.
Rainers team did 10 laps, no idea what Bandito did as did not see him after the event.
So big thanks to Spiz for being a fast team mate, had a great day.

Jeff 11 laps solo? You're a cyborg mate (I know you love the techy references ). Seriously huge effort solo.
