Re: Footpath Racers Do Dirt! What a Mudfest. Took us 8hrs ish to finish the 100km in the worst conditions i have ever riden in. The trails turned to a Soul destroying pool of Mud, bikes got hammered and bodies too. Spiz went OTB's twice, was behind him both times, good to watch My gears were useless after 20km and had to hold the lever in most of the time to stop it from jumping to a random gear, eventually settled on about 3gears that worked alright, no granny made some climbs tough, brakes were got worse over the day and were totally useless for the last 20km. Coming down stromlo (a 5km descent) was scary stuff with useless brakes. Spiz had to run down stromlo (YES run A tough day but glad we stuck it out and finished. Bike now needs a rebuild and MANY parts replaced, going to end up being an expensive rebuild. By far the hardest conditions i have ever riden in on Road or MTB. Don

Re: Footpath Racers Do Dirt!
not even a sticker or old magazine
Re: Footpath Racers Do Dirt!Forgot to mention, a big thanks to Rainer and his AWD for pulling Spiz's van out of the bog at the carpark. Would of been stuck there all nigth without you
Also big HTFU award to Spiz who had to run down stromlo (5km descent) as his brakes had totally failed. Super effort Don
Re: Footpath Racers Do Dirt!
Definitely would have preferred to ride down Stromlo. It looked like fun Rainer, you're the man! I thought we were spending the night in that paddock. Definitely owe you big-time. Thanks also for the lift back to the car. Different start and finish points are a logistical nightmare! ![]()
Re: Footpath Racers Do Dirt!![]() Bike after only 35klms, no rear brakes, shot bottom pulley wheel, no granny gear for the hills, and just all round bad day. ![]() Feeling rather rejected after finally getting to the 60klm checking station, and realising that my day was done so another big fat DNF, which makes if 2 from 3 enduro events. Not good Last edited by Giant Rider on Thu Jun 03, 2010 11:47 am, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Footpath Racers Do Dirt!your a tough man Zozz, funny though
Good effort Keith, it was seriously tough conditions and really soft mud swallowing even lightweights like me. Zozz - when you get your MTB join us in some 100km events, then the true meaning of pain will come out, 200+ km on the road pfft 100km on the dirt is where HTFU material is at Kev - there good fun events, for the 100km events we usually ride our own speed and split up depending on who's feeling better on the day, this time me, Rainer and Spiz were together or close to each other for most of the day, in the end only finishing about 10mins apart. Dont do the Angry Doctor as your first 100km event, huge never ending climbs that has most men crying like little girls. Do the Dirtworks 100 or Highland Fling First, they are the 2 easiest 100km mtb events, be prepared for 7hrs Plus in the saddle though. Don
Re: Footpath Racers Do Dirt!Wow you guys are hard core.... What an effort... Spizza, you're supposed replace the pads, while there some pad there not no backing plate!!!
