Looking for a ride from Rhodes on Saturday/Sunday

Postby master6 » Fri Mar 12, 2010 5:22 pm

This is a duplicate request from another thread.
I am a vistor to Sydney, masters 7 rider, into road racing, looking for a ride group going from or near, or through Rhodes this weekend. As you will guess, my speed (at age 61) is not suited to a group of Elite grade riders, however I find myself generally having little difficulty with people , over 50. I am happy to ride anything from 40km to 80 km. (80km is my normal training ride) I can drink coffee if that is part of your groups ride.

Waratah Masters are racing at the Tennis Centre on Sunday morning,

Just down the road from Rhodes

Very welcoming club who put on a very well organised race

C, D, E start at 8am

A, B start at 9am

Just a thought as you sound like you enjoy a bit of a race :)

I might come for a look. The bike that I have with me is my one owner 1965 model steel Bates, ok for training, but well worn. The bottom bracket axle is well worn, with some slop, and not much better in other areas. It is good enough to leave here in my daughters unit so that I have wheels on future visits.
My knowledge of Sydney is close to zero. Can you give me an address for the tennis centre please?

There are a few groups who ride around Olympic Park on the weekend. I ride with Baybug who have a regular Saturday morning ride starting at 6.45 with a few groups going off at different paces for a 30km or so ride. You'd be very welcome to join in.

The meeting point isn't quite as advertised on the website these days, we meet in Bicentennial park itself at the end of Victoria Ave - just down the path from you if you're in Rhodes.

It's at Homebush in the Olympic Park precinct.
