Or have any of the other two been completed?

I was out there today, as usual - the two are still in place, at Sunnyholt Rd, and at Symonds Rd. The latter was looking a bit promising when I came back this morning, fence down, just a small sign... but they promised me it would be open two weeks ago.

Haven't been end to end and back since Monday but that detour was due to open yesterday.

The Symonds Rd detour is no longer needed, the M7C is open through there, rode it both ways this morning, there are now 5 concrete bits, the two from earlier and 3 more down near the southern end of the detoured bit.

Now closed at the Old Windsor Rd end. Saw the signs last Friday.

An alternative route to the official detour, is to continue straight ahead past the detour sign using the "local access only".
Follow the path down through Pearce reserve, left onto Whitby Rd (watch the chicanes a little further on).
Left onto the path just before the roundabout (Joseph Banks Dr) and follow the path to where it joins the T-way path under the M7.
Nearmap shows the full paths, Google maps dosen't.

looks like theyre getting ready to close the glenwood end soon. signs are being put in place. on a good note, the richmond road section is open now, with lots of concrete sections and bodgy joins onto the old bitumen sections.
time to practice your bunnyhops gentlemen ( and ladies of course!)
still closed from sunnyholt to quakers hill though

Guys, apparently every night people are opening the gates at the Eliz Dr detour. I drove along the M7 on Saturday and counted about 10 cyclists using the section between Eliz Dr and Cowpasture Rd. This is obviously ****ing off the workers, and I can only see it causing ill will towards cyclists from the M7 workers, and possibly lead to them saying "stuff it, we'll take our time doing this..." As it is they don't expect to be opening that section until next year, I'd hate for it to take any longer than needed.

Please respect the signs and barriers. We still have about 23 km of uninterupted cycleway to use. If you really need to do 80km+, then just do a bit of extra backtracking.

Cheers,
Greg

Not to mention you don't know what shape the path is in, they are afterall digging sections up. It would be a nasty fall if anyone goes into a ditch across the path. And yes they are supposed to make the site safe even if its closed off, but that doesn't stop idiots from getting in there and moving pit covers around.
Furthermore from a legal point you are breaking the law by breaching a worksite closure, and technically trespassing.

WestLink M7 post future detours on their website here http://www.westlinkm7.com.au/maps.php

They are also eager to hear suggestions about proposed detour routes & would be happy to meet with regular commuters to discuss proposed detours before they are implemented.

A representative has been in contact with Bicycle NSW & CAMWEST in an effort to identify key regular users of the M7 Cycleway to discuss these issues. You can contact their representative through their website & direct your inquiries to Bronwyn.

the detour between norwest blvd and the tway is now open, went through there on the way home today.
A small section has been fixed up close to the tway end.

Hadn't been out on M7C for a little while, didn't like all the detours. Hearing they are open, headed out there this morning, starting as usual from Old Windsor Rd end. They have laid a reasonable bit of concreate near the start there, didn't feel it had been closed all that long, so good. BUT... just down the cycleway they were closing it, detour in place all the way to Blacktown Rd. :(

detour now in place pretty much all the way from Norwest to quakers parkway
see my commute home for the detour, yep, its pretty crap, highlight was having to cross over the railway line which involved walking up and then down a flight of stairs, difficult with fully loaded panniers

Zozza that is the offical detour - It is not good (I took a tumble down the stairs over the railway bridge - the stairs are realy slippery when they are wet so please take care.) Also the other area to watch out for is the right turn onto Quakers Road people come flying over the rise near there - especially some trucks in the area. I have a mate who lives near there and he will not turn right there in a car as he has nearly been cleaned up a number of times.

Went to Windsor today, but headed out on M7C to make up 80k, took first detour, took second detour, saw the bridge - are they kidding? a foot bridge as a detour? How many predestrians are going to come down a few K or so off the M7C to use this bridge, so this would just be for bikes?

Zozza - There is a better way if you continue down past the footbridge to the end of that street to a ramped footbridge that goes over Vardys road to near the Pub (Brewhouse) just there then you follow it under the rail line to near the shops at Marayong station through some back streets to the Breakfast creek shared path. This path requires you to stop for some side streets but will take you all the way to Quakers hill parkway where you can cross with the lights and rejoin the M7 path way.
This is the way I will be going.

I will try to put together a Bikely map over the next couple of days (and also try to put a link in this website - I don't know how to yet)

This will be where westab is talking about
Google Maps
Been a long while since I've used the underpass but I think it can be accessed via the slip road on the right here
Goes under the railway and Railway Rd and comes out here
Or "walk" along the footpath to Cobham St and follow that to Madagascar Dr.
Not sure what the glass is like through the underpass though.

Could also try Douglas Rd, Pearce Rd, Pye Rd
Disclaimer: I have not been through here recently and the access around the back of Pearce Reserve is hard packed dirt track before it joins the shared path under the M7

MSN - thanks for the Google map, It sort of where I was meaning - below is a link for a Bikely map of what I think would be the best way. It does require a dismount but HAS NO STAIRS.
Also the Breakfast creek shared pathway is Ok but there is a small broken section just where I suggest getting on. The rest of it is in very good repair and can be an enjoyable ride. :P One other place to exercise caution in near the trees at the back of Harvey Park; it can be hard to see pedestrians (and their dogs) that they often let off the leads. :x

Now to find out how to post a link.

M7 Alt. Detour

I hope that works - thaks to the instructions from europa if it does.
