The sign posted on the previous page seems to show a continuous path on the north side of the river, looks like the missing part is the "Escarpment Boardwalk project".tez001 wrote:Thats it. After gasworks, its to either go up to Macarthur, or the cyclepath way is across the bridge to the Albion and then back to the water and along that to the ferry wharf where you can cross to the other side etc.
Seems it is still under assessment:

Great picture. Looks they will be trying to throw the cyclists on the south side. Hope the curves aren't too sharp as those board walk corners get quite slippery. Seen one guy stack and nearly have myself.

yeah nowadays I generally take the road instead of going down there. Too risky for exactly this reason.find_bruce wrote:Slippery when wet - esp the bolts & washers holding it in place

thanks for the heads-up.SmellyTofu wrote:Just want to call out that the elevated walkway/cycleway at Ermington especially after a night of dew falling on the coarse metal grates that it's very slippery especially around the fast right hander coming down (west bound) to and including the tight S turns before you get to the concreted section on the eastern side of George Kendall Riverside Park. This morning there was a rider down taken away (looked like he got low sided) in an Ambo and I hope he wasn't too badly injured.
when i cycled there some months back, i did wonder how slippery it would get when wet.
i guess the engineer who designed this is not a cyclist?

Video looks good. Really have to get the path sorted between the two ferry wharves though if they expect some surge in cycling in the area, or a reduction in road use.

I think part of the problem is those plates they put between each of the panels I guess to prevent them from shifting is what is upseting the balance of the bike mid corner. It's not too bad on anything with 28mm+ tyres but roadies especially need to take it easy and stay as upright as possible to keep the shiny side up.

The metal grate as you enter the tunnel needs to be taken with care though in the wet as it is very slippery.
