Penny Farthing day, Wilberforce

I wasn't sure whether to put this in the retro (vintage) area, but then the event seems to be more than just about penny farthings.

August 28th (Sunday)
Penny Farthing Day and everything on 2 wheels
children's Penny Farthings,races, bike maintenance
and all things pedal powered.
Kids bring your bikes and pedal around !

I'm only 15km away, so I'm hoping to get out there.

Thanks Kraeg, sounds like a bit of fun, but I suspect other commitments are going to conspire against me

I dropped in today, and ended up trying a penny farthing. A guy held it so I could climb on, but as I was trying to set off and get some momentum I crashed to the ground sideways. So I asked if any had training wheels (it was balance I had difficulty with). I might try one another time.

The four seater bike some kids had built was fun (though far from my ideal bike height).

Any pics? Good weather too so hope the crowds were good.

I didn't think to get pics of any bikes until I got home. There were lots of kids riding the kid-sized penny farthings (I tried one of those but couldn't make a full pedal revolution due to my shin coming up against the handle bar).
