L'Atelier d'Velo - new in Clarence StNoticed what seemed to be a new shop preparing to open in Clarence St Sydney today. The 4th in a couple of hundred metres, with another one block down the hill. Maybe some segments of retail aren't struggling too much...

L'Atelier d'Velo - new in Clarence StIt's probably me with the bad French. The name on the door is actually Atelier de Velo. They stock Bianchi, Wilier, Focus, some mountain bikes (Pivot?) and some quite tasty new Netti jerseys.

Come off it Max. You're telling me you didn't do French at Canley Vale High? Or were you away that afternoon NFS FPR Jubilado Bludger
L'Atelier d'Velo - new in Clarence StAtelier is where an artisan would work ... For vélo it would be where one makes frames and components etc ... I think they are being a bit liberal
These days it would be "bike workshop" ... but I am no expert!.

Baum is an atelier. The shop is another retailer Anyhoo will have a peek when it is up and running. Suggest they stock some Peugeots if they're going to be all francophile. Amateur oenologist and green-friendly commuter.
Re: L'Atelier d'Velo - new in Clarence StJust had a quick look at lunch. Quite a nice set-up with Willier, Bianchi, BH and Focus bikes, an open workshop like in the Giant shop up the road and a cafe up the back.
Very little in the way of parts, accessories & clothing so far. No gloves for example.

It sounds much more classy in French though don't you think? What was the line from "The Matrix"?.....swearing in French is like wiping your backside with silk! '11 Lynskey Cooper CX, '00 Hillbrick Steel Racing (Total Rebuild '10), '09 Electra Townie Original 21D
Re: L'Atelier d'Velo - new in Clarence StNice range of bikes for the CBD. But I fear the worst for some in this economic environment.
Bianchi, Ridley, Montague, GT, Garmin and All things Apple
Re: L'Atelier de Velo - new in Clarence StQQ Not sure about classy. Misleading more like it. if they had French-speakers manning the shopfront then it might justify their shop name a bit more. Looks like they should be calling themselves bike shop in Italian or German or just call it a eurobike store since they don't even stock a French-/branded/made bike! Nothing wrong with calling it what it is instead of inflating people's expectations (they make bikes? French bikes? Ooh la la). Still, I guess the rents are increasing in the area as it is becoming our bici-boulevard and a French name bike store reflects their target market: high-end bikes no BSO shoppers thanks lol. Wonder if they have euro customer service (but non-parisian ones at that)

Re: L'Atelier d'Velo - new in Clarence StIt is owned by a group of ex CSC guys
Re: L'Atelier d'Velo - new in Clarence StAh, now the reduction in prices at CSC makes sense. They're getting some *competition* at last

Re: L'Atelier d'Velo - new in Clarence StDidn't insert the 'no competition' clause at the termination of their employment....
