Single Speed up Bobbin head anyone?

One of my mates is ALWAYS banging on about how much he "hurts" when he cycles & all the victories he takes against random people when he's climbing... Yet he never seems to want to cycle with us...

So as you do - start a little prodding & gauntlet laying on stalkerbook...
Threw down a challenge that i'll go against him on one of his bobbin climbs (he apparently does continuous climbs up/down), he can use his Trek Mad one - i'll use my $300 Cell Single Speed, i'll even leave the mudguards on.
Suffice to say he hasnt accepted the offer yet...

no but i've seen one of the MWCC guys do it in 53x11 on the way back from Beauie as a bet

not sure, 42x16 i *think* - whatever the default is on the Cell fixie...16 rear i'm sure, front dunno.

How big were his thighs? It's hard enough to crank around a 53x11 on the flat, how did he tackle 8-10% gradient?

the way back from beauies means the turramurra side... Not very steep at all.

Certainly doable - off the seat for a little bit.
Are we talking from the top all the way to the other side and back?

If it is not fixed, then I would be up for it. Don't fancy the downhills on the fixed.
Just have to see what chain rings I have and gear ratio I should ride.
