Tour De Hills Bicycle Classic 2012

Does anyone else know about this or is already signed up for it?
Looks interesting, route seems quite hilly but 100km is still a nice challenge on roads I've not yet ridden on..
Just not sure if I would've preferred if it was 100km of unique roads instead of 2 laps of the same 50km route, unless the first lap becomes a sighter to attack the course on the second lap..
Anyways thought I'd post this as it seems like there aren't too many people signed up for it yet even though it's only about 1 month away.

as a local ive always wanted to do this, but the course/roads are crappy and two laps means twice the crappiness. Old northern road with its lack of shoulder - thats gotta be fun... then theres boundary road. BYO CX bike !!

I was wondering how an event like this becomes a classic, but i think Scotto you have answered it for me. It must be one of those cobbled classics!

Dunno much about the ride although I'm quite sure it's one of those 'roads closed to motor vehicle traffic' kinda events since there's that "understand the police requirement that I will complete the course by 12:30pm" mentioned in the 'Terms of acknowledgement' so I doubt anyone would be riding on non-existent shoulders.

Hahaha definately sharing the road, won't be any road closures!

As a local I keep thinking about doing the ride, but haven't gotten there yet. Way to many potholes on these roads especially after all this rain.

Whaaaaaaaaaat noooooooooooooooooooooooo really? If that's the case sounds kinda lame.. not really driven in that area before so scouted around with google streetview and some stretches literally don't have any shoulders.. and the grainy road texture does look a little bumpy. If it's anything like "The Northern Road" stretch between Penrith and Windsor then I may have to reconsider entering this coz that was way too painful..

Scotto, I posted about this last year and you said the same thing

I was about to post the link again and see if things changed and would it be a good ride.

I'd normally suggest that Scotto needs to HTFU

however my memories of this ride as a real newbie in 2008 are of downstairs feeling a bit on the tender side for a day or two after. Couple of stretches would be ideal as a car suspension proving ground

But isn't there something about pain being temporary etc

I did this ride last year and found it to be great. Yeah theres a bit rougher roads but who cares?

Traffic isn't a real concern though as being early on a Sunday morning on a semi rural type road there isnt many cars to contend with. If you are contemplating doing it, dont, just do it. You'll enjoy it

I live at Prestons and the M7 Cycleway is where I go on the 29er with the kiddie trailer hooked up - if I ride it on the roadie too often I fall asleep (a bit like driving 1000km's in an automatic car!!!), I've registered for the Tour De Hills and Bobbin Head Classic, so what it's a little rough big deal.

I enjoyed it. Roads are not as bad as some are suggesting and it's a good, challenging course if you want to push yourself over the 100km distance.

Looks about a 150m climb up 6km of glenhaven road.. and I thought the climb north to cecil hills on m7 was annoying lol.
Still, since this has been postponed to April 1 am reconsidering registering provided I'm not too busy with uni study..

I think it's definitely achievable with a bunch of 10, although the hills might get a bit exciting if they aren't pushing the same speeds.

Im in it as well, have gave the course a go a few mounths ago and 3.5 hours solo no probs hills are not to bad more of your rolling stuff, in a group under 3 hours no probs, Should be a great day.
