Hi all,
I have just had a fantastic week on Rottnest Island in WA. With a 5 year old and 7 year old daughter it was an amazing week away. The girls rode there bikes every day, to the beach, shops, playground etc. no cars on the island was great and removes a big worry.
Now back home to Sydney and keen to do more bike friendly holidays, but closer to home. Any recommendations on places to visit would be appreciated. Ideally within 3 hours of sydney would be good

Canberra? Lots of places to go and visit and virtually the whole place is connected by cycleways. Plenty of nice semi-deserted roads in the hills as well..

Kiama is a perfect choice. Incredibly good separated cycleway network which the kids would love, plus beaches, sightseeing etc. Recommended.

Rotto is pretty hard to beat - almost no cars, beautiful beaches, warm blue water, easy boat ride from freo.
Struggling to think of anywhere quite so nice anywhere in oz
I was going to buy a fast, stylish bike, but I looked in the mirror & thought " you're not fooling anyone, you know"

Yep, south, wollongong or a little bit further. Between there and Batemans bay. So many caravan parks, beaches and lakes.

Fingal Bay is nice with reasonable bike paths, a few senile drivers though so take care on road crossings.

Bundanoon and the Morton National Park...used to go there frequently as kids. Hiring the bikes from the Ye Old Bicycle Shoppe and riding them down the big hill back to the campground was a ritual part of the adventure.
Further afield....Wilpena Pound in the Southern Flinders....
Ours is not to reason why...merely to point and giggle
