NSw Police - Return of Stolen Property

Anyone ever had the NSW Police return a bike?

My bike was stolen a while ago and I gave the Police the serial number but I guess if it was filed off there is no way to link the bike to me.

Is there somewhere you can go to to see if the Police have recovered the bike? Is it a case of just calling with your COPS number and hoping they match the brand/model to your case?

Nothing comes up on a search of their website. Todays papers are bragging about a whole bunch of stolen items being recovered including some bikes.

Yes i'm in the process of having stolen dirtbike returned.

I'm guessing your talking about bicycle but in my experience i'd say call the police and ask is the best bet in might be sitting in a police lockup somewere. What area?

Bike was taken from Rhodes - the items recovered were done so from a bunch of locations in and around Redfern.

Probably not my bike recovered, I guess I should go to some of the auctions held by the State Government to sell unclaimed property.

Really liked that bike, even though I now have the model up.

My bike got stolen, I collected insurance and bought another and then a few months later a reader from this forum spotted it in a pawn shop. I reported it to police, gave them the statement etc and never heard anything, despite them telling me they'd let me know about it.

Whilst theoretically the insurance company owned the stolen bike since they had replaced it. I wonder if they ever got it back or if it resides at a cop's house now?

(I wouldn't wonder this if the cops had done what they promised ie let me know the outcome)
