Riding home, but it beats the alternative of staying at workg-boaf wrote:I hope nobody is riding home this afternoon. It'll be very hot.

Well, yeah, of course. But... it's 45.2°C! Far out...find_bruce wrote:A fair bit of bite in the sun this morning.Riding home, but it beats the alternative of staying at workg-boaf wrote:I hope nobody is riding home this afternoon. It'll be very hot.
I'm really hoping it'll cool off by the time I'm home around 4:30pm. I don't commute by bike, but I do like to ride every afternoon for a couple of hours.
Oh no! That's close to where I live - 44.... YuckNobody wrote:42.8 deg C at Sydney Olympic Park as of 12:30pm. Predicting 44 in Parramatta.

Southerly cool change will come around 8pm, with a storm. Not sure you'd want to be out then.g-boaf wrote:I'm really hoping it'll cool off by the time I'm home around 4:30pm. I don't commute by bike, but I do like to ride every afternoon for a couple of hours.

Luckily (kind-of) I'm at work until 6pm, so hopefully it will have cooled down by then.
Added to the heat is a 14-30km/h headwind for my ride home.
Noice.
Maybe the train will be a better option.
Kev.

But the fluid reserves are good and I will just potter along. At least a westerly is a tailwind on the way home.

Temp topped out at 46.4 degrees for me at North Ryde, then cooled off to 42.5 degreesXplora wrote:Just rode home in 44 degree heat for 22kms. Do not ride in this heat if you've got any distance to cover, I tried to HTFU but I think I missed the H T and only managed to get the F U part.
I had two frozen solid bottles of water when I started at Nth Sydney. Both were melted by the time I reached Lane Cove a whole 10min later!
Pool at home was an icy cold 31 degrees

Seriously though, the rain and wind has died down very quickly, actually rideable now.
