Blowy commute in this morning indeed. Not much difference in ride time (48km yesterday vs 48km today and there was less than a minute's difference in ride time  ).

Today (Thursday) the wind was shocking. Made for a rather unpleasant ride down to North Cronulla which was more of a chore than anything else. Quite a contrast to Monday; I did the same ride and got to South Cronulla in the same time, and couldn't tear myself away from the beach to come back...

Gawd damn - rain. :( I was absolutely drenched today. If I didn't get held up fixing a puncture I might have avoided the rain shower.

Speaking of punctures, I've been pushing my beginner's luck since I bought my bike about 6 weeks ago and have been riding without any means to fix/change a tube. Considering the farthest I've been from home has been 20km, it was probably foolish.

Last week I did a 32km return trip (so I was at most 16km from home) when I finally got a puncture... 250m from home on the return leg! :D

Needless to say, the next day I dropped into the LBS on the way into the office and purchased a few new tubes, levers and a pump!

Another blowy ride today but went some way to compensating for the Yum Cha at St George League's Club.

That's bad luck. I managed to sneak a short ride in when the radar showed a clear sky around midday. A different story last weekend when it rained for almost half of my Audax 400km ride.

Didn't even get a chance to go out yesterday, each time I wanted to take off, a cloud would come over and pelt down. Same goes for this morning. Might have to chance it and take the old faithful out anyhow.

The radar is showing just scattered showers so worth a punt i reckon.

Rained at my place within past half hour. Rain heading east to west which makes it tricky.

I managed a quick hour and a bit out to Olympic park and home with only a wet bum and feet from the standing water missing the showers that were floating around so i was lucky.

This chap and the householders below weren't so lucky. On the James Ruse exit of the M4 it looks like a b-double full of veggies has lost control, hit a large road sign which has sliced open the side of his rear container. The side of the truck has been cut off and that and all the veggies have fallen on the house below. Fortunately apart from the fence and maybe a few tiles the house looks okay under the pile of produce. Hardly salad days though.

Scattered showers followed me all along the M7 and then till Merrylands. By the time I got home, my jersey and shorts were relatively dry :)

In other news however, had a bit of a stack near the chicane on the M4 path at Holroyd  No real damage done, just some battle scars on the knees, elbow and hips.

Let me guess, underpass with those slippery joins between the concrete sections? Dangerous in the wet! Hope you mend quickly.

I got a full 80km today without much rain, just moderate showers when I left and it was dry the rest of the ride. :)

Cant remember if there were joins or I was just going too quick for the conditions, lesson learnt, and I was on a different bike with different tyres too. Will check it out next time I go past - slowly :)

As you come past the sporting fields (past the Caterpillar service agent), you go down through an underpass, and as you do - the path has some joins running across it at an angle, those joins have been sealed, but whatever they used is slippery as sin the moment it gets even slightly wet. I think it was someone here who came unstuck at that point ages back. Ever since, I've always given that area some respect (though I rarely go that way).

It was a beautiful weather for riding today. Average temperature was 21 degrees during my ride. The view from West Head lookout was magnificent. :)

That was me who came a cropper on those joints and just as i picked my self up and straightened my handlebars another rider came down the slope and crashed along side me as it was treacherous that morning with just the right amount of damp. I contacted Parra council, the RTA and reported it on the Bicycle Info thing for reporting crook infrastructure but it is no different. I take it really easy now and try and ride 90 degrees to the joints.

Regarding the weather. What a day! Long may it continue.

Thought today was going to be light showers. It rained basically the whole way along the m7, through the Greystanes canal and back home :( Now I'm at home it appears to be clearing up!

Was the same on the coast. Rode to the Northern Beaches and the Church Point and it was very wet. Very inaccurate forecast!

Yes I was drenched as well. Forecast was poor. I didn't take my wet weather bike. Starting raining at Brown's Waterhole and by Turramurra I was soaked. Dry on the return leg thankfully.

You went out at the wrong time - I had a nice warm 100km ride around the local streets and Parramatta. :D I hope your prediction for the weather holds up for tomorrow. :)

Should be a cracker tomorrow. Time for a change in scenery so I'll most likely do a leisurely ride down to Brighton / Kurnell as opposed to chook farm sights and smells :)

After about 2-1/2 weeks out of the saddle and some respiratory issues I thought I'd tackle an easy ride (about 1/2 my usual distance) this morning to ease back into things. I got to the turning-back point without much fuss but the weather was so glorious and I felt so good I decided to do a 'full' ride down to South Cronulla and take in the sights there from a vantage point on the rocks for about 10 mins before heading back. I can think of worse places to ride than Cronulla on a sunny spring morning! ;)

Really felt the ride about 1/2 way on the return leg, but I'll survive. Also got to test my new Suunto Ambit2; no more estimating the time from the clock on the wall and entering my ride into Google Maps by hand when I get home! :)

I've just had 4 days up in Cairns lounging around relaxing. Every morning though i would watch cyclists heading off in the beautiful early warmth and wish i had taken the bike with me. Back home this morning after Cairns it was decidedly chilly at 5-30, i soon warmed up though and now it is a rather spectacular day. Long live Spring :D
