The coldest winter morning ever and boy did we feel it, at the bottom of Bobbin my Garmin recorded 0 degrees. My toes were numb most of the trip to the 4 Gorges. Still managed a decent 136km with almost 1800m of climbing

Recovery is going well, back to my peak power
Think I'll stick to Zwift for winter.

Stopping for two coffees afterwards was a bad idea, the half a lap around centennial park back to my car was seemingly colder than the ride itself.
Average temperature of 2 degrees. Brrrrr.

is it a porsche club day today? must've seen at least 20 of them on the road just this morning.
3 of the GT3's were screaming through the M2 beecroft tunnel side-by-side one on each lane ... *$%# .. left me partially deaf. not impressed.

About the only thing notable today aside from nearly getting blown over by a howling crosswind. Damn it was windy this morning, still is. Great fun though.

so true. i was hitting 50 on my 13kg flatbar on the M2 (thinking i was seeing the benefits of some added commuting training .. .. before i realised it was the tailwind).find_bruce wrote:Wosers it was windy on the way in this morning - strong enough I noticed the cross wind & not just the headwind. As usual, never noticed any tailwind
the same headwind on the return journey at 2pm, when the winds were at their peak, made the Pennant Hills Rd off-ramp a real struggle

The morning commute was great, and the afternoon was painful on the M2 and pretty much every other road until I got to my driveway. Headwinds and crosswinds only in the afternoon.

Damn the headwind later on in my ride. A group decided to latch on to my wheel after I passed them - okay, that's fine, but you are going to have to work for it. Man that was hard work trying to stay on 35-38km/h with that headwind. Tailwind on the way back, but I was pretty exhausted by then.
Nice day for 150km.

And again today as well it was roasting hot. I actually started to cramp up a tiny little bit near the end of my ride, which normally never happens (it is super rare). I'm guessing I just didn't drink enough - soon as I drank a bit more, it seemed to stop.biker jk wrote:That's why I had my ride done by 10am.g-boaf wrote:Really hot today, 46.9ºC recorded at Penrith:

yesterday, the air was so still and thick at akuna bay, even at 7. a layer of perspiration on the whole body.
thought i would give cottage pt a go .. hot, muggy .. why not add some elevation?
bumped into 3 other riders with the same twisted thought .. hmmm !
total contrast to this morning. what a reprieve ..

I look on their radar ... http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR713.loop.shtml#skipfind_bruce wrote:Aw carp, was about to head home when I saw the Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning.
Lots of stuff coming through in batches with clear bits in between. Shelter in the bad bits and ride in the good? Good bits look to be 45 minutes wide.
Good luck.

45 mins wide didn't help when riding into it - managed to avoid the worst though fortunatelyWarin wrote:I look on their radar ... http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR713.loop.shtml#skipfind_bruce wrote:Aw carp, was about to head home when I saw the Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning.

I did two hours on a trainer inside, the temperature was fine. It was hard work though.tez001 wrote:Bit chilly this morning doing the three Gorges!!
It's just silly going out at 6:00am or earlier in the freezing cold, it's just not worth it. I'm being super careful ahead of going overseas in trying to avoid getting sick.
