There was ice on the wooden bridge in Galston Gorge, as one of the riders in our Sunday Gorges group found out as he went down. I was at home sleeping after freezing my feet off on Saturday morning. Rider has broken wrist and fractured pelvis from the fall, so watch out for early morning ice/frost in the Gorge. We had the temp at -2.5 on Saturday - ouch!tez001 wrote:My ride to Bobbin Head yesterday recorded average temps of 5 degrees, however Im sure it got down to 0 in some parts

Wow, I was through the gorge yesterday an hour before the NWSCC guys and Darren reported a bit of slippery action. I didn't observe the same myself (he was ahead of me out of sight so I didn't see him on it) when I rolled across.queequeg wrote:There was ice on the wooden bridge in Galston Gorge, as one of the riders in our Sunday Gorges group found out as he went down. Well, the coldest part of the day is just before sunrise, so it might have iced up during that hour.Boognoss wrote:Wow, I was through the gorge yesterday an hour before the NWSCC guys and Darren reported a bit of slippery action. I fortunately did get another hour of riding this afternoon on the TT bike to test a couple of changes I did to it. So just over 16 hours this week, 1023TSS and 10,175kJ.
The TT bike is absolutely filthy now, but it was fun to be zipping along at 45km/h+ (or 39km/h with a headwind) and have the heart rate at only 150-160bpm. That's quite enjoyable.

I was walking the mutt along the canal path when you came passed me on the Cervelo. There was a bloke about 30 seconds ahead of you going at a good lick on a Colnago and you looked as if you were riding with a purpose, did you catch him up?

I did catch him by Merrylands HS. He went ahead at Reconciliation Road while I waited for the lights to change. I think he was doing about 33km/h or so. It was damn nice to ride at 39km/h or more and not feel like my HR was going through the roof.
As for the weather, it seems to have settled now, but we did have a Jetstar Airbus from Launceston flying racetrack patterns over Greystanes, Parramatta, Prospect, etc waiting for the storm to clear. Must have done about 3-4 loops. That storm must have been pretty violent over the airport.
Edit: spoke too soon about the weather, here comes the next storm.
