Somewhat cool when I was out early this morning and when I left for work. Nice thing about the cooler weather is that I seem to ride quicker.

Indeed it was lovely. Not as cool as forecast, which meant I was a litle overdressed, but the Ground Effect jersey coped well and I was still comfortable. Had a good run with traffic, just one driver offering a friendly toot on their horn as they went past. I'm sure that's what it was, a friendly greeting

Very nice out there late morning. Hit a cold front later that promised rain but it never happened

Awesome! Except the motorists seemed to be a little more impatient than normal :D
But you get that.
Hope you have a great ride,

makes you appreciate the hot shower at the end - at least that's what I keep telling myself

Me too but I am getting sick of cleaning the machine again - it was gleaming after a clean on Friday night. Now it looks like I have dragged it of of a muddy river.

Is this rain my fault again - clean white bike is just asking for it?
Not fast, no style, but still get there.

Went along the M5 at 5am this morning. Didnt get rained on but the wet road turned my road bike into a muddy road bike

Had to hose the damn thing down this morning as I had so much dirt caked everywhere, even on the brake pads! If I were to commute in the rain, mudguards will definitely be on the shopping list.

Speaking of mudguards... Any discreet slim road bike specific ones you guys can recommend?

Can't help you with alim-line mud guards but the SKS chromoplastics on my CX commuter are wonderful, you should see how much sand and crap is caked on inside them that didn't land on my chain. I was wearing booties this morning too because my feet get cold and while not actually waterproof they kept the light drizzle off my feet so they stayed dry too.

+1 for appreciating the hot shower, despite neoprene overshoes and 2 pairs of socks my feet freeze
I've gotta take my share of the blame for the foul weather as I cleaned and serviced 3 bikes on the weekend :x

Mine's white too, and it got a clean on the weekend.

Rain couldn't decide whether it wanted to keep coming or not, so it was off then on again with the rain jacket.

Traffic was appalling ... and then I got left-hooked by an electrician entering the northern end of Kent St from The Argyle Cut. Fortunately, I saw it coming.

Good ride in this morning - not cold but a little wet due to the thick fog. Had the clear glasses on and they only lasted 3kms till they went into the jacket pocket.

Enjoyed the ride in the fresh conditions but am hoping to ride in the sun to swimming tonight - it will be a nice change after all the wet over the last few days. (this is not just the rain as the washing machine popped a hose yesterday and flooded the garage :x - still at least it was repairable :) ).

I use these http://www.crudproducts.com/products/roadracer/ as do a couple of other people at work. They're easy to fit to a road bike and work well. Because they sit very close to the tyre they're not obvious at all.
