hi all,

over the past few months been getting into the road scene and riding a fair bit..hear that maroota is a really solid ride, and just wanting to find out whats the best way to approach/do the maroota loop? and what sort of level of riding is going to be required to do it.. id be riding from either cherrybrook or chatswood - if from chatswood would be going out through the galston gorge im presuming?
cheers

Hi,
we did the Maroota ride last week starting from SOP and riding up through North Rocks to High's Road to join Castle Hill Rd and then Old Northern Road. This was pretty good except for a few sections of Old Northern Rd. where we had a few trucks passing. Once we were past the Galston turnoff things were much quieter so coming through the Gauge might be a better option and it gives you that extra climb.

The loop itself is great, very fast since there isn't really a big 'climb', more of a rolling ascent back up to the main road on Catai Ridge Rd. The descent down from Maroota is fast on a really good surface.

Enjoy the ride.

Here's a Maroota loop I did recently from Chatswood (fairly easy pace):

Yep it's a fairly solid ride but not too hard, only climbs is Galston Gorge.

If riding on a weekday, wath out for the trucks from the sand mines. They are cowboys!
