I have just came across a new venture in Sydney that rents out road bikes (Cannondale and BMC). This is an often asked product by travellers on various forums and thought it would be worth filing the information here. They are charging $50/2hrs. I guess the success and failure of this venture will depend on whether they've set the price point correctly to sustain the volume needed.

I'd love to take the BMC Gran Fondo out for a ride when they arrive.
I'm just a bit concerned that I might like the bike so much, that it will become the most expensive bike hire ever.

I was in Sydney for the New Years and stayed at a friends place in Rhodes. Went to ParkBikes to rent the Trek Madone 3.1 and had an awesome time cycling around Sydney Olympic Park. The rates are now a lot cheaper to what was posted on the website and they now rent it for 24 hours. IIRC it's around AUD 60-70. They also provide water bottle and a pocket map if you need one. Only thing I wish it came with was a lock, making it easier for toilet breaks. Overall had an excellent time on the bike and now riding on my alu bike just feels different

I'm heading to Sydney for the Queen's bday weekend and was thinking of going for a ride with my brother in-law by renting and seeing what the fuss is about carbon frames
Are you restricted to ride around SOP?

Got a reply back from Parkbikes and they said I'm not restricted to SOP. So hopefully my brother inlaw is free for a ride that weekend.

Just across the road from Manly Wharf, there's a bike hire place next to the pizzeria, mostly flat bar road bikes from what I've seen.
Might be an idea to contact bicyclesonline in North Manly as it's part of their business, they use Polygon bikes and might help out with a racer perhaps?
