That is nice Bruce. Next is metric bi-centennial, I guess?

Thanks for the company, it was a great ride

2nd attempt at the M7 was successful. Managed double the distnace I made last time, with no cramping. Just tired and hungry by the time we reached Parra. Claire still destroyed everyone up the hills, esp on the return leg.

Whats the retro ride gonna be? This? http://connect.garmin.com/activity/304379278" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Oh, and now that we've got Will, he can show us around the Le Perouse area if Andy, or someone who knows the way can't make it.

Wow what a day - thanks for the ride guys, especially Claire for leading and Bruce for showing me how to get to parra park from SOP area.

Just passed out for last 3hours and decided to wake up and check how many km's I covered today:

From my house to M7 = 48km
http://tiny.cc/fqpp7w" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

M7 distance = 38km
http://tiny.cc/3vpp7w" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Return trip
2(48 + 38)= 172km

No idea it would end up being this much... day started from 4:45am and got home at 3pm.
Next time I need to bring more food and get more sleep the night before lol (probably only slept 2.5hours due to excitement)

It was also great to meet Joe, QV and Minh (sorry about the shoe!).

Looking forward to next time!
Cheers

Well done Will, that is a huge ride for your first 100k.

Claire - you were hardly slackers, I seem to recall be left by all and sundry on pretty much every hill till the turnaround point when the field came back to me.

Rheicel, I am no so sure about a bi-centennial - when I got home I had to stop for a rest 1/2 way up the back stairs, and there are only 2 of them.

Still undecided on this ride Yes I can do the daily distance, but 150k + for 3 days in a row, not so sure about that

Wow Will! That's an epic ride for your first 100! Congrats!! First metric and imperial century!! Well done.

Bruce, I'm sure you can do the distance, it might take a little extra time but you'll make it. You paced yourself well today and were still at the front of the pack till the end.

After the large flat white and chicken wrap took effect, I was thinking what a great ride (thanks Bruce, Clair and the rest!). Prior to that I was thinking I'm getting old and hate headwinds.

I got home, went straight into baby sitter duty (on a trampoline, no less), then designed two costumes for tomorrow's church play, went to a pick-nick in the local park with caroling (Frisbee with the kids, yea!) then laundry at home, baths and finally a glass of wine and a leg rub (self administered). I'd be jealous of those who broke a hundred miles but I'm secure in the knowledge that (1) I didn't have any extra kilometers in me, and (2) I'd have been in the dog house for so long it would make trampoline and Frisbee duty look minor.

Thanks for a really fun time, my new excuse for being slow is that I'm savoring every minute on the bike!

Joe

P.S. QV, awesome Gios!

Sounds like you girls and guys have a lot of fun out there! Let me know next time you are heading out, not sure if time will permit the distances you tend to go but would at least like to bring the Softride out for part of the way at least :)

Yesterday's ride was a special one off, and not really a retro ride(even though all of us bar one rode old bikes).

Retro rides are more so around 50km in length. Just keep track of the thread for updates. We should be having one in the coming weeks though, before everyone gets too busy with the festive season.

28th - Claire, Paul

I'm tempted to use this retro ride as a recon ride for my uni commute

I can't do the 21st, but maybe the 28th.

Minhyy - why don't you do a 5 uni ride. Head from SOP to UNSW, up to Sydney, Notre Dame and UTS (all on Broadway), then across the bridge, along the Epping Rd cycleway to Macquarie Uni. If you wanted to do another, you could always swing past UWS at Parramatta as well.

Head line-up seems to be clumping sorta West, at this stage. I'd be happy to drive/train over that way. At this time of year, would be happy for an early start/early finish, to avoid middle-of-the-day heat. Not that I'm fussy or anything... :)
Or... Strathfield Stn > Cooks River>Yarra Bay. If it's flagged as a hot day, wear cozzies and jump in at Yarra bay. :D
Shall map one over the next day or so, if you want. I'll be just happy to get back into it; plan to ride to work at least 2~3 days next week; been difficult to do it this week.

^ cooks to yarra bay sounds good, I'm down for that

The uni loop does look pretty interesting, worth a try some time
