8am at Guildford is fine by me. That's an OK ride, although I'll have to start earlier than last time as I've done bugger all riding in the last 6 months.

Ok Sat 27/8 it is: Recumbenteer, Hergest, minhyy, BFV, Zebee, isabella24

8am at the wooden bridge in Guildford. Ride to go along the canal cycleway, through the dam and out to the Horsley Drive and cut down to the M7 that way, then the shortish ride to the end and back up on the railtrail via Leacock's Lane. Pork rolls at Canley Vale and a handy train station for those wishing to return that way.

My exam is on Saturday the 3rd of Sep. but thanks for thinking of me! So I'll be ok for the 27th but not much else after that!!

beaut weather for a ride today, thank you all

still bemused that Mr Carbon took being passed up a hill on a steel bike personally  he could have easily overtaken me on the following downhill as I was just coasting but he sat on until the crest of the next hill to restore his ego

Yes, lovely day for a good ride, most enjoyable. Shame ill Claire and busy Zebee couldn't make it.

We should look on Strava Flybys to see who was the disgruntled Mr Carbon.....

If it's not this weekend, then yes. Might ride my teschner if it's sorted out in time too. Getting a recent groupset, but old enough to otherwise claim retro ;)

I'm flying off to the UK this afternoon for a couple of weeks so won't be back for a September ride which is a pity. Have fun on the M7. Just don't bother if it's rained in the 2 weeks prior as the gates will be shut. Not that it's hard to sneak around...............

Wish I could join you guys, but I have another engagement.

Today, on my commute, I found signs regarding an upgrade of the little green metal bridge over Orphan School Creek on the Parramatta-Liverpool Rail Trail. I rang Council and their contractors will be replacing the metal-panel surface and repainting the bridge for a few weeks. They will only be working on weekdays only. The work will be completed before the end of October.

The easiest detour, coming from Fairfield, heading south on East Parade, is
- turn right opposite the first house, using (Recumbenteer's) underpass under the railway line (to bring you to Railway Parade near Cathcart St),
- turn left on Railway Parade and go flat out south,
- just after the bridge over the creek, turn right into Westacott Lane
- double back on the footpath and immediately go left down the hill to the Orphan School creek cycleway

From here, you can either
- turn left to continue west along Orphan School Creek towards Abbotsbury
- turn right and turn right under the railway line to go south on the RailTrail towards Liverpool
- turn right and go straight to head east onto Prospect Road towards Carramar/Hume Hwy.

Hope that was detailed enough! :)

^ thanks for that Steve, have seen the signs propped up near that bridge (there sure are a lot of them in the vicinity) but haven't actively thought about alternate routes.

that detour won't be affecting us tomorrow in any case as work does not start until the 26th

Was a fun ride, thanks all, and thanks Minhyy for organising and leading.

Also I finally get what was meant by a "real" teschner, which fortunately mine qualifies as

halfway at the bubbler in the sunshine.

and at the worlds best pork roll store.

one day I'll remember to take photos of the riders :)

naaaah who we kidding!

I rode over the completed bridge today. My word it's a shocker! The new shiny metal panels look as if they are too large so have been squashed in meaning they are bulging up all over the place and the surface is now really uneven. I struggle to believe that it is a finished job, it's bloody awful.

Yep rode over today, about 50m of Paris-Roubaix in the backyard of Canley Vale. From what a friend told me, the panels had been laid down some time last week, but when I went for a ride yesterday there were some tradies having lunch at the bridge with their ute - so maybe more will be done. Or not.

Anyone got any ideas for a route this month?
