Well, I'm in. I'll bring the DMI if the weather is good. Otherwise it'll probably be the Evolution.

Had a good time this morning. Cept the chain dropped halfway, and then broke at Cabramatta :(

Looking forward to the next.

Another great ride with some pretty cool older bikes in attendance! Here's one from1962:

And one you don't see every day:

And an e-bay steel! (the chain looks fine here):

And the group who braved early morning wake-ups to participate in a great 30 km ride along some of best bike paths in Sydney:

Thanks Paul and John for leading yet another great ride.

Start point was same as finishing but due to me not hitting 'Start'. I only realised my error about 4km into it when my garmin beeped me  About 35 km in total, Average below 20kph. Fantastic conditions, a bit busy with pedsetrians on pathways leading into Canley Vale but no problems other than a chain malfunction.
Open for suggestions for a saturday ride 27th?

Well, am back to full(ish) functionality, it seems. 27th looks OK. Perhaps my earlier suggestion on the lower Cooks River > skirt KSA > Mascot back streets > Botany end of Botany Rd.> La Perouse---> return. :|
Plenty of parking Mahony Reserve (Wharf St Marrickville). Enough time to toss it around. If that's too inner west for Andy, Quang, am still happy to go out your way a bit. Another option is the Tempe Rec Reserve for start point. Plenty parking, again, but advantage of M5ers popping out pretty much right there.

I'll prob just grab a lift from Andy again. If that's alright. Otherwise, I can take the train over.

I believe John was talking about getting a bunch from the Dulwich club to join, and that course is right nearby.

I haven't ridden this yet, but there's the Parra to Olympic Park along Parra river. It's closer for Andy and I, whilst relatively close to everyone else.

Yeah, that's not a bad one, either. I think there's a weird bit where you carry your bike over the river on a walkway-on-a-pipeline. Unless they've upgraded it, which I doubt. End of Thackeray St., pic-centre. Have to cross back south at Silverwater Bridge.

To make it possible to accomodate all that could make it to a Sydney Retro Ride. Can we gather some info on which day is possible/prefferable, Sat'y or Sunday, area you live in ie Parra', Horsnby, Marricville etc, your options for areas to travel to. There may be someone you could car pool with or even ride with to the meeting point/return. Rides will/could be approx' 3hrs duration and travel approx' 35 km at an easy cruising speed of ......................<20kph> :o
Include a ride/area you have ridden or one you would like to ride.

Use the basic info 'Template', copy n paste adding your own info under the previous info.

Day: Sat' or Sun';
Saro both S or S

Area I live:
Saro, Bankstown

Would ride to:
Saro, Anywhere. Fav' is to Woollongong thru Nat'o, along Lady Carrington Dve

Suggestions Please

Joe H, Sydney area for now but would consider a weekend ride in the Hunter Valley or something similar. The missus would definitely go for something that had nice B&Bs or access to nice restaurants or coffee shops.

Welcome aboard the retro express Ted.
HV is on the money Joe although not as many cycle paths so country roads can be a bit of a risk. I'd go at the drop of a hat anyway. Sunrise across vinyards, hot air balloons, wildlife and farming enviroment. Dirt roads smoother than the bitumen most times (well, last time it was!) We need to talk some more :)

With an aim to gain interest from ppl in many different places and offer options, I put this one up also. One meeting point I suggest is Tempe Recreation Reserve. Plenty of parking or possibly some could ride along river track from Parramatta, Homebush and anywhere in between. From there it's out towards Maroubra and La Perouse. I did a reccy ride last week and found Malabar to be amazing, cafes, swimming pool and beautiful clear vista's. NOTE, there are some hills,( a few only) short and some are sharp, so don't expect flatlands. Make sure yr chain is up to it  Quang
My reccy ride below shows Tempe Rc Park just near the Airport,(SOUTH of my start/finish point) 'IF' starting here, cycleway up on to Coward St and pick up route towards La Per'. Some road riding out to La Per' cycleway.

JohnJ, I hope you have a blast in Beechworth ya lucky bugger  send some pics for us to make us jealous please

Have checked with Control Tower, and good for take-off, 0630 hrs. Sat 27th. May train to Redfern, to Tempe from there. But if Joe is coming and by himself; happy to drive/pickup. Shall PM him over weekend, to see. (I should explain that. Yaris good for 2 adults/2 bikes).
Picked a good day for those pics, Andy. Looks like a travel brochure.

It's open-ended. If not, the one after that, f_b...

May rendezvous with the group at western end of Coward St., around 0645. The Qantas Drive path ends/flows into Coward St.
Shall be coming from Redfern Station via Mitchell/Euston/Burrows/ then over Canal St Bridge. The Bluetooth ear-piece will be in. :)
