Just an FYI...a tiff between me, a vacuum cleaner, and a Jack Russell. I lost. Am safer descending the Old Pac Hwy at 50 kph than in my own hallway. Shall spare the details.
Off the road a number of weeks. Plenty of time to do 'things' to the '93 Miyata Team Titanium. Always a bright side. Am already in love with it, though haven't even ridden it yet. Shall post some progress pics over Easter.
Well, no, it's not a pushbike, otherwise I'd be pushing it...

Speedy recovery Paul, better to be injured in the house than on the road

Cheers. No security video to view, unfortunately. :) Suffice it to say, never try and prevent a Jack Russell getting from point A to point B.

Id like to do a Waterfall/National Park ride. Ive never been down that way, so someone who knows the way can lead? Maybe starting out at Tempe so the return is like 80km.

Yeah, but how are those roads in terms of rideability? Here's a route that DHBC takes, so I assume these roads are fairly safe to use.

Ride down the princes highway as per DHBC is ok. My suggestion goes through the Royal National Park, and involves umm more hills - Audley wier and waterfall

RNP would be very punishing, especially given the gradients of some of the hills and the taller gearing of retro bikes. Also, I don't like the thought of descending Artillery Hill at 60kph with single pivot brakes!

I'd be happy to give the RNP a go... albeit on my non-retro, easy to stop bike....

Got to agree with this, having tackled RNP a few times. Audley and Artillery are a tough combination regardless of direction.

Another suggestion: In at Waterfall out at Bundeena, then catch the ferry to Cronulla (hourly from 9am). Then a trundle (mostly) along bike paths back to the starting point. This is definitely the cruisiest way to see the RNP. The hairiest part is the descent from Waterfall, the climb out isn't too bad. Got to watch out for speeding cars on the Bundeena road and cretins in Cronulla, but otherwise pretty quiet.

Blah, stupid family changing plans... they don't understand the need for a bike ride so I need to change my availability
I'll get rid of all the dates for this weekend seeing it is pretty much done and dusted and add the next weekend in:

Fri 25 Bruce, Minh,Zebee, Claire
Sat 26 Bruce, Minh, Zebee
Sun 27 Bruce Minh, Zebee, Claire

Sat 3 Claire

Seems like a tight fight between Friday & Sunday - any last takers ? Forecast is the same for both days. I am easy but as we have to pick a day, why don't we say Friday

Johnj's suggestion sounds good to me, I say hoping that I fix the brakes on the roadie & am not shamed into riding the commuter with disc brakes & granny gears.

Even if I add in my name, it wont make a difference.

Fri 25 Bruce, Minh,Zebee, Claire, John, Paul, Will, QV, BFV
Sat 26 Bruce, Minh, Zebee, Will, QV
Sun 27 Bruce Minh, Zebee, Claire, John, Paul, Will, QV

Sat 3 Claire, QV
Sun 4 QV

I dont mind the hills in the National Park. All my bikes have fairly easy gearing, and brake reliably. Any route is fine with me.

I've done the Gong Ride about 8 times on the Lemond through the RNP with the big gearing and bog standard 105 brakes. What's the issue?
