Bike shop recommendation for new rider?

Hi everyone

I've always wanted to start bike riding but just never really had any close mates that were into it to get advice from

I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good bike shop somewhere (closer to SW Sydney) where I can buy my first wheels and get some advice to get started

I've only briefly played around with bicycles as a kid and now, being a pretty big bloke (120kg, 6'4 tall) I want to make sure I buy at the right size, materials, etc.

Basically just looking for a beginner bike for cardio workout and to gain confidence riding.

Any store recommendations or links appreciated & apologies in adv. if this is the wrong forum to ask.

Hi, judging by your size you are not going to get anything off the rack.
I'm shorter than you but the mass produced bikes which usually go up to XL are still a bit small.

At least I think the bike shop should measure you, not just show you their biggest bike. I have a friend who is 6'7" and the LBS shop went out of their way to measure him and order a bike to fit.
