Re: Retro rides NewcastleWhat's a retro ride?
Re: Retro rides NewcastleNo answers? I'll make a pretty flexible guess. A liesurely ride of about 25 - 30 km on any kind of bike built last century.
Regards, L'iota
Re: Retro rides NewcastleThanks for the explanation. That's me out then. I'm the only thing around here that was made last century.
Re: Retro rides NewcastleNot to much interest must be more of a Sydney thing
Re: Retro rides NewcastleI would definately be interested in a Newcastle retro ride!
Theres a monthly ride along the Newcastle foreshore run by a group from OZBmx (myself included). A leisurely roll from Wickham up to the breakwall and back again that regularly attracts anywhere from 6 to 12 riders. It would be no problem to copy the route, just on old bikes rather than old BMXs - just need to get a group together to get it all started Lets re-start the conversation.... Wickham motorcycles, 11am, April 28th, anyone? Cheers, Matt
Re: Retro rides NewcastleWould like to join in the ride but I will be in Victoria riding some of their great rail trails. Earlier that week I hope to be riding part of the Mountains to Murray Rail Trail at night (it will be full moon). I've ridden part of it previously at night with a full moon (plus usual lights of course). Bicycle Heaven!
Have a great ride, L'iota

Re: Retro rides NewcastleHi all,
Unfortunately I won't be able to make it this weekend... However, it does seem that we have a good degree of interest and a few possible routes - just need a date set and go from there. Lets keep the conversation going and gradually it'll happen. I recently bought a Speedwell Special Sports (try saying that quickly) and am keen to get it out for a decent ride Matt No, honey, I've had that one for ages...
Re: Retro rides NewcastleHi Matt,
Do you know what year your Speedwell Special Sports is from? Can you post a picture? Did you buy it at Islington? I have 5 Speedwell Special Sports bikes from dating from 1955 to about 1966. Col.
