For those that were too afraid of the dark to continue to Prestons :D you missed MTB Steve's recruiting drive for another Jenolan trip. Something along the lines of...

"It's a 300km ride with 5000m climbing. It was the worst day of my life, so I want to do it again"

For some reason I'm not filled with enthusiasm

Sounds convincing. Fantastic way to pad out your data for the month... I've done 13000m this year, 5000m in one day would really help the stats...

Can't help but wonder if I'd have to bring a lock to chain the bike outside Westmead emergency though on the way back?

No you're misquoting me. "30 kms and 5metres of climbing" so no problems.
Yours sincerely

longs rides are mostly in your head, if you want to do it you will sort of thing. I have seen people who struggle to do 100km complete 200+km rides, mainly becuase they had some burning desire to do it. Bit of helping, encouraging and wheel sucking and everyone makes it home :) :) :) :)
oh and remember to eat, LOTS :) :)

Long rides are also about getting permission to go out the whole day.

Got to admire these UK cyclists. Supposed to be well into spring and it's still brass monkey weather. Did not see a single rider over the weekend who was not decked out in full winter riding gear. Not for this boy!
