Racings been cancelled tonight (again) so weather depending i should be there...
Been given permission to go riding finishing the build this week... don't leave without me!
sorry boys and girls, i got home early so went for a sunshine ride in the warmth!!, was super sweet. Hope you enjoyed your ride
Slaughterhouse, seriously... chasing RHTC guys until Elizabeth, felt like I did 40kmh av until the bubbler...
At a guess - Rooty Hills Triathlon Club
Rouse Hill Trek Concept - although that probably makes more sense lol
Really Hard To Catch
I guess I'll be penciling you in for the next Jenolan HTFU
I dont really feel like trawling through 400 pages, but does this stuff still go ahead? (The above few posts seem to indicate yes) and is it only on Tuesday's?
It's looking like i'll be relocating back to Sydney in the next month or 2 and will be looking for places/groups to ride with.
Ill be living somewhere between Erskine Park and Parra in the short term so M7 is easy for me to get to.
I never did much cycling before I moved to Perth so not really cluey on what it's like in Syd.
There are always people doing group runs down the M7, BNA has guys leaving at 615 tuesdays, 630 thursdays, just wait and chase the bigger groups, there are always groups of 10 doing runs Even at 9pm lol
Well that sounds alright. You don't have degenerates hiding in bushes throwing bottles or trying to rob you along the paths that late do you? Or is that just a Perth (or crown casino) thing?
Keen to find some other routes around the area that won't get me killed/piss drivers off, and stuff that's only mildy lumpy so I can build my legs up. Perth's pretty flat, so have been running either a straight block on my roadie, or a sizeable ratio on my track bikes - even in the 'hills'.
The only degenerates are on the bikes... They may throw things... But don't generally hide in the bushes unless they're attending to "a call from nature" ....
The M7 is excellent HLC. It's clean, safe, well-lit and has enough turns and small hills to make it interesting.
If you want to get out of Sydney traffic, your other options are all on the fringes. Try north-west, which is probably best if you want flat, south-west (Northern Rd and its western tributaries), West Head for magnificent hilly riding, Royal National Park. I'm told Parramatta Park loop is ok too.
Or just go early mornings and evenings in your local area. I do this frequently and it's usually fine, traffic-wise.

Cheers for the tips! I have no problem with traffic per-say. Quite happily ride in traffic here in Perth - however, drivers here are typically more cyclist friendly as there is a huge cycling population.
Looks like the M7 will be a good place to start out in Syd and I can start exploring on Strava to find some better routes/group & shop rides.
you will need to read through and memorise every single post, there will be a 100 question quiz on your first ride. Failure is not an option
6.15 every tuesday night from sunnyholt road entrance. Other days also ie thu and always groups on sat and sunday.
Cycleway is awesome, 40km each way of free of cars, stop signs and traffic lights
When you've completed your starting out, may I recommend an enchanting ride thru Sydney's outer west, it's called the Jenolan HTFU. Some of the chaps riding on the M7 do this ride as well and would probably be glad to enjoy your company.
must remember to "hold" it in at all costs
Oh yes.... There are some places where you can fill up your bidon, so you can always remain well hydrated.
