Greystanes Canal - another dumped car

Greystanes Canal - another dumped car

Postby g-boaf » Sun Nov 10, 2013 11:35 am

Watch out on the Greystanes Canal cycleway for another dumped car just east of Holroyd High School near Cumberland Road. Police are aware of it and the firefighters did extinguish it.

Looks like an old Ford Laser, numberplate near it SRX-625. Very hefty cut up tree logs in the back of it too. They obviously wanted to make sure it went up completely.

Ok g-boaf, the game is up. Stop dumping your old cars on the canal path to prevent your Strava KOMs being taken away.

Ah gawd.... :x It's still there! It honestly feels like bashing your head against a brick wall trying to get those things moved.

What's the bet they'll drag it to the nearest exit, leaving a massive trail of glass and debris which they won't clean up. I'm sure as hell not walking up there with a broom to sweep away the mess.

Had to go past this baby on the fated trip to Lansdowne... have to wonder why they can't at least sweep the path clear after putting it out because the glass and miscellanea makes for a really bad time with race tyres. I can understand why they can't clear the car straight away, limited resources etc but sweeping the path on THE premier cycle track in the area just seems like a no brainer.

If I lived a bit closer instead of 1km away I'd get there with a broom and leaf blower and clean the mess up myself. But I shouldn't have to do it... I pay council rates - they should do it.

But really they've got to close off that Percival Rd entrance - that is where the thing got in.

I just get off the bike and walk past it, carrying the bike over the rubbish. better than getting a puncture.

Ever noticed how I don't ride the other way down that track towards Guildford? Saves on punctures. ;)

Looks like you'll need some Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres. Only 580g each for the 25s. "Punctures become obsolete with the MARATHON PLUS!".

it's only a small section of about 5 metres. I just stop and carry the bike instead.

I don't believe manufacturers who say that punctures become obsolete. ;) Glass has a habit of finding its way through even the best of tyres. Careful riding and keeping a close watch on the tyres has seen me mostly avoid punctures for a long while.
