Bastardry on Mona Vale Rd?

Bastardry on Mona Vale Rd?

Heard this morning that a local group suffered mass punctures at speed as someone had scattered tacks on the bike/breakdown lane of MV Rd between St Ives and Forest Way quite early this morning. Police were notified and attended, I believe.

Yes we rode through about 7.30 and saw 5 tubes laid out as a warning on the road presumably. We got another 4 flats in the group. Cops arrived just after us.

This has happened many times. I recall quite a few years ago we suffered seven punctures in a group of 10-12. These tacks were laid heading to Terrey Hills after Forest Way.

Hmm I'll be there tomorrow. Maybe I should pack the pump as well as CO2.

If that happened where I ride I would make a point of riding in the middle of the road. See how the tack people deal with that.

90km/hr stretch, that. Even with high powered rear blinky, fluoro green panel jersey, and camera, I wouldn't have the cojones to do that in the absence of a hazard that was plainly visible to motorists.

The good news is I didn't spot any tacks this morning. Seems to have been swept up.
