Hi guys,
I'm planning on heading out towards Bankstown/Hurstville in the coming week(s), but never have ridden there, especially along M5, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?
I'll be taking the M7 cycle path from Dean Park (near Blacktown), riding south to the M5 on-ramp, then onto the M5 shoulder (correct)? The part I'm a little stumped on is, what do I do when I get to an off ramp? Do I move over a lane and keep heading straight... or do I exit the M5 > cross the road > enter the M5 again ?
I'm thinking the latter, as it seems the safer option, with all the cars, especially as they try to merge left to the exit ??
Some of you may suggest I avoid the M5, though would be better taking it than all the other roads to my destination. :p
Other than that, is there any other tips anyone could suggest for a 1st timer ?
Thanks in advance
New M5 rider looking for tips. :)

[Update] nevermind. I had a look on Google maps, and I see the bike crossing sections at each on/off ramps, so you can move back onto the side. Must have missed that last time I looked at the google maps course.

From someone who rides the M5 2-3 times a week, I can honestly say that it is the safest riding environment available, aside from a dedicated bike path. Maybe even safer than those as there are no peds to jump out in front of you.
One thing you need to be mindful of is the amount of debris in the breakdown lane. Make sure you've got at least 2 spare tyres with you.
