Bobbin Head Classic - Safe?

I have a newbie mate who is "encouraging" me to join him on this ride. In light of my experience at The Gong Ride (as detailed in that thread) and The Spring Cycle I have some concerns about safety on mass start events like this.

Has anyone ridden this event? How was it?

I've ridden it 4 times. It's a fun ride, very social, a good route, and completely not dangerous. I've seen zero issues or crashes in my 4 outings, but have had a good time each time.

Have ridden all 3 of those and the BHC was by far the best organised. Gong was pretty good too, Spring Cycle on the other hand was terrible this year (my first) but apparently I should have expected that

Have done Bobbo once. It seemed safe to me. I think it is tougher than the others mentioned so tends to not appeal to inexperienced riders and as a result the other riders seemed to be quite experienced at riding in groups.
