CBD to Lane Cove
Postby Fishman Dan » Tue Oct 28, 2008 10:42 am
I've had a quick check at Bikeley.com but couldn't find anything. What's the best route from the Harbour Bridge to Lane Cove (using the bike path for the final section). Ultimately I'm after a way of linking the CBD to the bike path and heading to Lane Cove, or perhaps further - Pittwater Rd.

The way I used to go was going up Middlemiss st/Arthur st to get to the Pacific Hwy, then go up the Pacific Hwy and turn right onto Miller St, then left onto Ridge St, then right onto West St.
From West St. there's a number of different back streets to take to get to Willoughby Rd (e.g. Huntington/Devonshire/Matthew/Atchinson) then down to bike path from Naremburn shops. You can follow that bike path all the way to Lane Cove/beyond.
Not the fastest way to get to Lane Cove, but a fairly nice route (Pacific Hwy/Miller is the worst part).

Nice is one thing - safe is the other. I'm familiar with all those streets, so it's probably just a matter of finding what works best at what times of the day.
Thanks.
Thanks.

My daily commute is CBD to Chatswood (Mowbray Rd)
I go straight up the highway & havent had any issues at all.
There's a few T3 lanes, which are rarely occupied by cars, & other times its easy enough to have pace with the cars.
I generally hook a right & go down Herbert St to Artarmon (its shorter) at St Leonards though.
There's also a bit of debris on the left lane after the St Leonards train station (near clemenger)... my 1 & only puncture.
PM me if you wanna tag along heading in/out.
I leave the CBD around 5:15 & come in from Chatty from 7:45-8:30ish
