Coming over for worlds - any easy races?

Postby ODT » Mon Aug 30, 2010 9:32 pm

I'm coming over down under for the worlds with 3 friends from the netherlands. We're all 4 more or less retired ex-elite riders.
Staying from sep 28 to oct 11.
Are there things like club races going on at that time? Would be great to join :D

Hi there - have you looked at riding the criterion course? http://ridetheworlds.com.au/ It's an expensive ride, but you'll be surrounded by some elite athletes I'm sure :-)

Otherwise, have a look at the BIcycle Victoria website for some regular organised rides - www.bv.com.au. If you're staying close to Melbourne rather than Geelong, you'd probably enjoy Beach Road and the 'hell ride', although it does have a reputation of being a bit dangerous - http://www.cyclingtipsblog.com/2010/05/ ... tes-again/

Good luck and enjoy your time here!

24-29 September are Australian Master Championships, followed by World Champs from 29 Sept. The clubs I know are not racing in that period.
